Any chance ethersrv could be adapted as an msdos app as well?

Technically should be easy, albeit probably not quick. Might actually be simpler than the Linux version since no file-mapping and file-matching is necessary, all operations can be relayed as-is to the DOS kernel. But it's not something I am planning to engage into at this time, mostly because I do not use EtherDFS myself much.

Actually, if it's as easy as I think it should be, I might give it a try.

1. Can it run in a DOS window under Win9x?

I doubt it. ETHFLOPD for DOS requires a packet driver to send/receive Ethernet frames. I do not think that Win9x provides such interface. A quick web search tells that there is a thing called WinPKT, but it's only for Win 3.x, apparently.

Unfortunately it is missing from this list of network shims maintained by another member of these forums, but I remember using NDIS3PKT for this sort of thing - I ran ETHLOAD under Windows 95 using it in the past, I think as per these instructions. This thread talks about a registered version of NDIS3PKT, but I don't recall the version I used needing registration; it had this license:

which didn't negatively affect my use.

If you (vetz) can't find a version of it online that works for you, let me know and I can look around some more, or upload the version I have.

driver applications to be used under WfWG 3.11 and Windows95 without
loading any real-mode software components.

I probably used it with Windows 95 RTM and/or OSR 1.

The ETHFLOPD server version for DOS is fantastic. I'm using it in DOSBOX-X to serve my main DOS PC. It would be cool if ethflopd server could access sub-folders instead of only being able to see disk images on its main directory. This would allow to have disk images well organized. Other than that, yeah its fantastic!

Following on from my previous post regarding NDIS3PKT, since someone asked, I searched for NDIS3PKT on http://discmaster.textfiles.com/ and found that the files I have in my backups match what is in http://discmaster.textfiles.com/browse/21567/ … ip/NDIS3PKT.ZIP

The only difference is I have a .HTM file with the README information in it, which looks like I saved it from an FTP site (it has links to the other two files at the top), whereas in the link I provided it seems that someone copied that information into a .WRI file.

It would actually be really cool to have this capable of handling ISO and BIN/CUE files.
