Website has been down since I moved to norway, getting it back up has been a very low priority... You can find the most important downloads peppered in this thread.

Statuswise, the project is not dead but I have not had time to work on the software side of things but the hardware is finished. I have very much focused on Norwegian language, I now don't have to pay for my courses either so I will be taking the maximum out of them. A2 level has started, and I strive for at least B2 since I will be staying here for rest of my life ~

I thought another "official" website was put up, and I missed it throughout my late night reads of this thread 😜

I'm glad to hear that everything is still ok after your relocation! 😄
And, of course, thank you very much for all the work you put into this project so far! 😁

School is over, exams went better than expected (I got B2 in listening and reading, and B1 in writing and speaking), and I even had a job interview some days ago. I'll find out if I get to go forward in some weeks but in the meantime, the IO selections stuff is being worked on right now. Current settings are slowly becoming visible, and once I have finished that, I can work on actually changing them. Then I need to work in all the sound tests, proper error handling and a variety of housework tasks but the light is starting to be seen at the end of the tunnel ~

Mixer is also actually finished now, with SB mixer locking implemented as the last missing thing. That is available only on my card, not generic ones since it is done externally to the YMF71x chip. This ensures games won't mess with the volume levels or have access to the broken master volume of the card which must be at a specfic setting or other levels become ineffective.

Once the software is nearing completion, I'll build up the cards and try to get things out so that I can finish this stuff up for good and focus on new things. There's an FPGA based thing in the to-do list that won't suffer from the headaches of ancient out of production chips that you can only get from shady sources...

Congrats on the exams! And hope the job thing works out if it's actually something that you like/want 😀

Also am very happy that the project seems to be going well!
Wanted to ask you a while back for a link to the 1.0a, as I couldn't find it here... But now I think it's kinda pointless, since it's currently sustaining modifications 😁

Excellent work both at school and for this project. Always happy to get news of advancement. Be proud!

Thænks for teh kind words ~

I have finished the current IO selections showing and now I'll start on the actual changing. I have come up with a relatively flexible and easily changeable way which I'll begin to implement tomorrow. Main problem is all the different types of settings and supporting them all at once does take a bit of effort. But overall the end is getting nearer and nearer ~

Great news all round! So far I've resisted all of the new retro sounds cards that have been developed but I won't be able to resist buying this one 😁

I'm sorry it has taken such a long time. Your donor card is still right in the box where all the other parts are for making these things. I definitely intend to get the card done sooner than later, and with software slowly shaping up the end is nearer and nearer ~

Things left to do :
*Sound tests
*Graceful error handling
*Configuration save/load
*EEPROM management
*Proper testing on generic YMF71x cards aswell as T-04YBSC

Let me know if I can help with testing, I have a range of YMF71x cards here. I have a YMF701 based card too and your existing software doesn't work with it - this is just an FYI, not something you care about I'm assuming. UniSound doesn't work with that card either - it's not PnP.

YMF701 is a totally different animal indeed and will not be supported by SETYMF. Maybe one day I'll try to reverse engineer its conf mechanism but that is not a priority of any sort.

As far as others go, I have a good collection myself but more platforms to test is always welcome. So far the software hasn't left my C2D based ISA board 🤣

There are working sound tests now, or well, all but SB, WSS and Covox. I'll have to figure out how I'm supposed to do interrupt handling properly and only then I can add those too. I also need to add proper error handling and few other things but the end is starting to get nearer and nearer ~

*feels unworthy* 🤣

Things have stalled a bit on software end of things, I got all softwared out for a bit and worked on some hardware things instead the previous week. I'll resume on the software soon though.

Yesterday I soldered together some little boards to allow me to spy on the ISA bus to see exactly what SETUPSA does, because there are reports of some incompatibilites that go away with SETUPSA.

That is something I have wanted to do for quite a while. How are you collecting the data? Do you have some sort of expensive logic analyser, or a more creative solution?

I'm still planning on working on a more limited solution to that problem for my purposes (as always, my budget is the main impediment), but it's interesting that you may have solved it already.

Also, how are you implementing your resource conflict reporting? Do you keep a list of common assignments, or are you actually detecting all hardware actually present in the machine and reporting based on that?

I hook up my DSlogic U3pro32 to these boards. It isn't exactly cheap but it has definitely the best bang for stuff with 32 signals. I would love more inputs though...

There's no active conflict probing, I only keep a list of address ranges that are in use by base hardware etc. and prevent selecting them + checks for conflicts within the card. It won't know if there's a SB16 at 240 for example.
