Ha! There's a post about the SilverStone case on Vogons!
Great job friends!!!
Well, I've been trying to source it for a while, but nothing. I'm in Italy.
I called SilverStone, they said in the US should be available any moment these days, in the stores, but it will be a small supply.
In Europe, they're trying to convince the European retailers to buy it, but they don't want yet, because they believe there's no market (they're mistaken, there's a strong retrocomputing slice in the cake here).
I asked them whether or not they're thinking of making replicas of more popular 80s-90s cases, such as IBM PS/2, etc... They said they've got lots of requests like that and that the FLP01 will be the deciding factor. If sales will go well, they might proceed toward that direction.
They suggested that we, as consumer, push the rumor around, because the more people will buy the FLP01, the more likely they will make other products. And, in Europe, they suggested that we consumers blast requests to the retailers.
I called the editor of an Italian national print magazine, it's called Retrocomputer, by Sprea Editore, he's a friend. So I submitted an article, showing the case and explaining everything to the readers. It should be in the newsstands in Italy (and online) with the next issue, mid-March. I strongly hope this will give some push to the product.
Once the article is out, I'll send a photo to SilverStone to update them. I'll also propose that they make 4 beige standard ATX cases:
• A tall tower
• A mid tower
• A thick desktop (like the FLP01)
• A thin desktop
FRONT PANELS:
And then that they just use these same bare cases to make retro front bezels that replicate the 80s-90s products. So that they can simply put a bezel and the product is ready, based on orders or something. This should save time and money for both them and consumers.
REAR PANEL:
I will also suggest that, on those 4 standard cases, they make the rear panel easily replaceable, with 2 types available for each: an ATX one and an AT one. In this way, even people wanting to build true retro sistems with old AT or XT motherboards and parts, they could simply swap the rear panel and use it.
EXAMPLES
They could make plastic front panels for products like these:

What are your thoughts on all this?
They said therefore to him: Who are you?
Jesus said to them: The beginning, who also speak unto you
