Hello
So maybe someone can try to help me with this topic I will be very grateful. So in general context I have a very overkill pc for windows xp gaming , why? well because Its fun for me, Am I wasting this GPU using it on this system and under windows xp? of course, but still it is fun for me 😃. Anyway with this little intro I will get into matters.
Im trying to run a game that has PhysyX as an option in the video game settings, to be more precise the game is Mafia 2 game(picked this game randomly just to try these Physyx feature). So this game (released in 2010) can actually still run in Windows XP (is the minimun operating system required to run the game) and my machine is powerful enough to run this game ( you can see my machine specs in my signature) . So Im playing this game at a resolution of 1600x900 all set to high and the physyxs option set to high as well. But running the benchmark built in the game Im getting a very dissapointing average of 16 fps. However if I turn off physysx on the game the fps jumps to a steady 60fps (I like to played with my fps capped). So my understanding is that this physyx feature is not working well at all in Windows xp 32 bit, or at least in my case.
So checking the techpower up app, i noticed that Physyx is not available in my 980ti, also when i checked the Nvidia Control Panel the Surruondings, Physysx option that is usually there does not exist or it does not appears there at all.
What I tried so far but still not working:
- I installed the Physysx version driver from nvidia 9.19
-I installed the legacy software from nvidia aswell.
-Lowered the resolution but still getting bad performance.
-I try setting physyx to medium and I get a little improvment, like around 30fps average but still not good enough for me.
- I try also installing an older version of the physyx driver but system does not let me due that there is a "newer version" of the driver itself.
I have not tried other card because I dont have any spare "out of the box" windows xp driver compatible card out there and honestly is something I will not do.
I dont know what to do a this point, know, do you think that it could be because I "forced" nvidia driver 368.81 to work with my gpu under windows xp 32 bits? by this I mean that as you all know the 980ti was not officially supported by Windows xp so I have to "tweak" the driver to be able to get it installed, is there is any other solution? or definately its the price I have to pay for having a 980ti with no access to this nvidia feature in windows xp. By the way Im using Windows XP SP3 if you are wondering.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
