Thanks for the info. That is is good to know that there might be some compatibility issues with the 133 frontside bus. Need to do some more research if the Ps2b mb is among these mb with compatibility issues or not. A P3 Coppermine 750-800MHz is indeed a very economical option and if is possible over clock them could give me even some more extra power which is a good thing in the long run.

But there is no need to hurry. At first, I will set up the system as it is in the upcoming weekend, and then in case everything works out of the box I will take my time to see what the p2 400 mhz and the tnt 2 can do.

While doing that I keep shopping around on ebay for some p3 coppermine and another video card and if something strikes my eye as a bargain I will get it.

It's not information, it's more of a note.
There are compatibility lists for p2 series boards on the Internet.
Pcb version 1.1 with numbers up to xxxx contains a clock generator such and such, it does not correctly know how to initialize the 133MHz bus.
Until number yyyy - PWM controller supports only 1.8V core supply voltage.

For such and such a motherboard, there is a patched BIOS from enthusiasts with support for such and such processors.
For the other - there is an alpha BIOS from asus with support for such and such processors.

I would buy only the 100mhz fsb Pentium 3's. Do not buy 133fsb CPU's for this board, it will downclock them anyway so it's a waste. For example, I wanted to test my slotket so I put a 133fsb P3 900mhz cpu in there and it ran at 700mhz because of the multiplier. Anyway, yeah just use 100fsb cpu's on that mobo.

From a financial point of view the 900mhz would be the most expensive cpu. the difference is not that big but still.

I have pulled the trigger already btw and got myself p3 900 mhz with the 100 fsb.

I will not install it right away though. I need to find a Slotket adapter first and I want to play around few weeks with the pentium 2 400 mhz first to see what it can do . That would be the ideal scenario if I am lucky and everything works as planned. have not set my system yet. Will do it this weekend.

I am still glad that I have p3 900mhz now just in case I need something more powerful.

How did it work out?

I was lucky and found a 100fsb 1Ghz Pentium 3 Socket 370 CPU for a very decent price. The seller had a few and the first one he sent was DOA however he sent be another and once I made sure to update my BIOS to the latest/last beta version, the CPU worked great.

my P2B running 3x256mb sticks @ 133mhz and P3-1000/133 SLOT1 cpu with GF4ti4200.

but not a regular board, had to do some necessary mods.

Oh do tell! I have this board and cannot OC it to 133fsb.

I would stay with your current setup for a bit , especially when your tnt2 not m64 or fake Chinese card . I would play around to see how it performs and how is fit for your need and after if you not pleased moved to something else. Of course there is huge room to improvement but with current setup you can run games up to 2002.
