Is this rom with set "Waitstate zero " ?

Hi, Madao..

I used the original rom and reduced some constants.

Which constants? Could you share your VGABIOS image?

Did someone succesfully install the drivers for Win 3.11 for MK-765VL?
I tried to install the STB PowerGraph 64V+ Windows Support Disk Version="3.10" (30.4.1996) , run setup.exe (from C:\STB, not a floppy), it displayed welcome message and detected windows directory path, click continue and got failed due to an unrecoverable error message immediatelly, no file was copied...

Yeah.. VLB virge and socket 7.. ummmm, no. Never existed unless this person had some experimental never released motherboard and video board.

PCI is also referred to as a local bus interface.. so my guess is that it was a PCI card.

Indeed exists, OPTI made Chipsets for Socket 5 Boards with VLB.
Put Pentium MMX Overdrive on it or Powerleap Adapter with K6-2+ 😉
But Bus Performance is not good at all.. Also Memory Speed.

I tried to run driver setup from a floppy but still getting the same error 🙁

OK, I found this utility is not necessary for basic driver functionality.
I run windows setup.exe from DOS and installed display driver via oemsetup.inf (can be placed on HDD) and it runs.
I have problem that all 1600x1200 modes displays only blank screen so I have to use lower resolution. E.g. 800x600/32bpp ot 1024x768 works fine...

Could it be related to some strange refresh rate timings and display not being able to cope with it? Which color depth have you tried at that resolution?

Oh yes, I got out of sync on my LCD for a fraction of second with some nonsense high frequency.
As I read in datasheet Trio64V+ supports 1600x1200 only in interlaced mode that probably most LCDs doesn't like (I don't have CRT handy). Highest NI mode is 1280x1024/8bpp. I think that older S3 Vision 968 could do 1600x1200 NI but it uses external RAMDAC at higher clock than Trio64V+

LCD display is unfortunately a limitation in such case. I remember one day I set some higher resolution for my S3 805 and it switched to high refresh rate, for which my LCD just displayed "out of range". Only CRT was able to display the screen properly. It looked really nice on CRT, but i prefer LCD on my desk 😉

And I remember one day I found an utility disk for my S3 Trio32, played a bit with setting refresh rate while power transistor in vertical deflection circuit of my 14" analog monitor decided it didn'like it and commited suicide by releasing holy smoke 😀 It was pure analog monitor with pots buttons, without any OSD and protection circuits. Fortunately I was able to replace the transistor and used it for some years until I bought better 15" with OSD and protection...

BTW, I think I mentioned earlier, this STB video bios runs VESA graphics modes in 75Hz by default, not 60 as usual...

Hi, all.

I'm modified highspeed rom to make it little bit faster. Could you please try it?

Did anybody checked it?

Not yet. I did write it to an EEPROM and place it with the graphics card in my bin. I now have 5 EEPROM's for this graphics card to compare:

1) STB Powergraph 64V v1.2 0 WS from Madao
2) STB Powergraph 64V v1.2 1 WS from Madao
3) STB Powergraph 64V v2.1 1 WS
4) S3 generic 86C765 v1.03-08N
5) S3 generic 86C765 v1.03-08N "high speed modby Yftul"

Is there a 0ws ROM that correctly switches from graphics mode back to textmode? The one from github doesn't work-after switch from graphics mode back I got only blank screen with out of sync. So it's unusable, I use 1ws rom that's behave correctly but it's slower...

I had same problem until I completely washed the board from a flux. Then 0ws BIOS worked ok.

Hm, it desn't make much sense to me as all supported modes are working, just the switch back. I used hi quality flux and cleaned it as well I can in ultrasonic cleaner with IPA... Can someone else confirm this?
