Hypervisor platform runs on top of hyper-v as a nested vm. Vmware runs very badly with the Hypervisor platform enabled. So I would image its pretty slow.

I've just about completed testing of all the good tracks/cars I have - CART and IRL - 1980s thru 2000s. Not bad at all. Echoing my intitial assessment a bit more than half tracks need reducing and all carsets. Not concerning myself with formation lap/race start performan hit for now. Mainly interested in seeing how complete the colection is for RR, and overall I'd say it's great.

No luck getting Mexico addon track (Mexico City, big dat 1-24-2010) running - even reduced. It's heavy but runs fine in dos/windy.

Discovered that running under dosbox-staging can help a few reluctant car/track combos (mainly indy05/indy06). Boosting dosbox.conf MemSize=128 (from 64) got all versions of Indy running with the indy05/06 car sets for instance. So tweaking dosbox does have an effect in some edge cases.

I can probably tweak Mexico to get it going, by dropping more MIPs.

I don't seem to be able to find Mexico City big on icr2.net or through google.

There's an updated build of RReady (1.0.40 on the store) which forced the memsize to 512 MB. I don't know whether the version you have supports that. If you run RLauncher from the desktop icon, launch dosbox-rendition and close and then do the same for for dosbox-staging-rendition it should update the builds, but please backup up your existing installation before updating it.

This has an extra switch to -quarter to drop 3/4 of the mips. So to use it you'd go:
TREdit <path to unpacked dat file> - reduce -quarter -convert <reduced path>

Dropping the -quarter flag should restore the original 50% mips dropped option.

1) You'd have to copy all original non-dat file from the packed path
2) the unpacked files (except for the dat file) into your track directory under <ICR2 path>\track
2) Then overwrite the MIPs with the reduced files.

Please don't use this build for scaling down the MIPs it's broken in this and the previous build.

There's also a patched build of Icr2 with a 128 mb texture heap (needing at least a memsize of 256 mb):

i don't have this Virtual Machine Platform setting
maybe right now you should just disable all three settings for haxm

Hypervisor is painful to enable. I have to reinstall all my VM software afterwards after disabling it again.

I enabled WHP on my Win10/i7 2600:
Time for loop iteration 0.33 ms
Dhrystones 3065134
VAX MIPS 1744.xx

Only runs with third (5/6th) (emulated CPU) option on my Ryzen.

It doesn't work in any of the accelerated modes with any combination of settings.

Some error about a a whpx lack of space. How much disk space does this need? I have 152 GB free on my system drive, which is where I'm running it from.

Ryzen VMWare Win98 Command prompt under Win11:

Microseconds 1 loop: 0.14
Dhrystones / second: 7281001
VAX MIPS rating: 4144.00

In comparison to FreeDOS Ryzen (native):

Microseconds 1 loop: 0.17
Dhrystones / second: 6015038
VAX MIPS rating: 3423.47

The VM running Win98 appears to be faster than running it natively under FreeDOS?

I've heard similar stories about Macs being faster running XP under Parallels than natively. Not entirely sure what's causing that. But it's close to native.

Maybe a timing issue.

[EDIT]

Ryzen 2700X QEMU (Windows Hypervisor Platform/WHPX)
Microseconds for one run through Dhrystone: 0.13
Dhrystones per Second: 7424594
VAX MIPS rating = 4225.72

I can run vmware on my i7 2600., so I would say it's enabled.

I'll get you the error message soon.

I think recent Windows updates have broken it.

this screen is important
https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/ … 5486_image3.png

also you need to have hyper threading disabled for twice more performance in single core applications (also in emulators/virtualizators)

also you haven't confirmed if you have haxm installed from here: https://github.com/intel/haxm/releases/tag/v7.8.0
