Hello everyone!
I've finally got my hands on a Libretto 70CT after owning one about 20 years ago, selling it, then wanting another one ever since!
When pressing the power button, it turns on, the hard drive spins but the screen is black
Pressing the power button holding F12, the unit turn on a the screen very dimly shows a message about updating the BIOS.
I've taken the 1.6GB hard drive out and connected it to my main PC via an IDE to USB converter, and it works perfectly, i can see all the files on it.
I've partitioned an old 40GB IDE hard drive so its got a single 2GB partition on it, popped this in the Libretto, and there's no change to the behavior I've written above.
Upon opening the unit up, i could see that the backup battery has spread some corrosion onto the motherboard, see image 1.jpg.
I cleaned it up with some alcohol and vinegar, and it looks much better, see image 2.jpg.
My main concern it with the parts circled in image 3.jpg.
I have purchased an SD to IDE adapter, formatted a 4GB SD card in FAT with a 2048kb allocation unit. When i put this in the Libretto and turn it on, the HDD light stays on, and the same behavior occurs as i mentioned above, see image 4.jpg.
I do have a CF to IDE adapter on order, along with a 4GB Transcend Industrial CF card.
Anyone experienced anything like this before, and secondly, does anyone have any ideas on what to do next?
