...1993. Yes, a rather nicely preserved copy of MSFS 5.0 in the nice big box was just something I couldn't say no to.

Congrats! That looks like a great copy of that game. 😀

What's really wild to me is that the modern Flight Simulator has advanced to the point where the game actually looks like the photo on that box.

The latest flight simulator if pretty cool, except the distribution through the MS store is terrible. There are so many updates you need to download and they have terrible bandwidth. I'd install it again but it would likely take a couple days to complete.

Truly, in two weeks we will get the real version of "As Real as it Gets" 🤣.

Real Monster truck madnessessesses, not like the fakeass MTM2 I got there...

Re: Bought these games today

Or the very sub premium bundle version I got of MTM1 in a sleeve and all scratched up. Thrift pickups this arvo.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Well i never played this game but i always found the box art... weird.
The airfield on the box, with high mountains in the approach trajectory 🤨Yeah sure ! I'm definitely not flying there.

I bought some games in the last few weeks.

I'm very happy with this Ultimate Doom and the Windows 3.1. Midtown Madness will need some repairs on the box but was very cheap. I loved this game as a kid. Same for Ultim@te race pro. I had it back then. With"PowerVR EXTREME" logo. Everything was EXTREME in the 90's

Picked up:

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe for Xbox 360
German box, no manual, the game runs in English. Hopefully not censored. Bargin bins used to be full of these things, but over the years they became very rare. I took it to not miss out on it, but I'll replace with one in better condition if I have the chance.

Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes from Liberty City for Xbox 360
English box, no manual. This also became fairly uncommon. And again a safety purchase. I'll either pick up a manual for it, or another copy with a manual if the opportunity presents itself.

I also dropped off a copy of PS Essentials Motorstorm with manual, Uncharted 1 without manual and a German box Halo 3 with manual and poster so I got a discount on the 2 games I got.

My most recent pickups:

I like the embossing on the Neverwinter Nights box. Not sure how well that comes across in this picture, but it really gives the entire package a premium look. I already own NWN and HOMM5 on GOG, but it's nice having the physical copies as well.

I recently obtained what seems to me a rare print of Mortal Kombat II DOS CD version.

The original North American CD release came in a big box, with the disc in a jewel case, a large format manual booklet and a manual addendum. The jewel case only included a rear insert.
You can see images of it, e.g., on MobyGames:
https://www.mobygames.com/game/600/mortal-kom … -ii/covers/dos/

This one I got came with the manual shrunk to jewel case size, doubling as a front CD insert. I also own the large booklet, and content-wise they are identical.
The writing on the disc is white, instead of the common black. Again, no difference in the files.

How rare is it? Don't know, but in all my scouting of eBay, this is the only copy I've ever come across, while there are usually dozens of the other, more common kind.
There is an entry on Redump Wiki, with links to images archived from eBay some time ago. That disc looks exactly like mine.

ESRB rating is present, so definitely a North-American release. Looks too official to be a bootleg, but there is no barcode anywhere. Thus, I assume it was part of a bigger package.
Maybe some of the later copies shrunk the booklet to save on printing costs? Or it could be one of those budget "jewel case in a cardboard slipcover" re-releases? In either case it is strange that it is so uncommon.
If anyone knows more about this - please share.

I've picked up Splinter Cell: Chaos Theroy with a manual for PC. It's really rare to see a used copy with a manual. Dead Space for I assume all its paperwork for Xbox 360. I have no interest in the remaster. Also, I didn't know it had an ad for the animated movie. Motorstorm: Pacific Rift with a manual, how the trilogy is complete. All the copies I found up till now were missing the manual. I found this middle entry to e the least available out of the PS3 trilogy. At least for a fair price.

Yeah, I also usually look for games that are complete in box, and have the manual included. Sometimes, games also ship a PDF version of the manual on the disc, but having a physical booklet just feels nicer. I'm very happy with my Splinter Cell: Espionage Pack which includes the first two games (retail CD versions) and their respective paper manuals.

As for Xbox 360 games, before they took down the store, it was possible to download PDF versions of the manuals directly from the Xbox Marketplace for most games. Not anymore, sadly.

My first purchase on Vinted and the last of the franchise I'm interested in. Now I have all of it up to Reach/ODST. A few years ago I've seen this game all over the pace for buttons. Nowdays it became very uncommon. At least locally. Especially if you want a non-localized version with all the paperwork. The only one I've seen in the wild in the past 2 or 3 years aside of some online listings that were already sold by the time I found them was an Italian localized version without manual.
