Hey guys, I am trying to install 512MB of RAM in this board, I have 2x matched Kingston 256MB/133MHz/ECC DIMMs, pulled from a working system. No matter what slot the DIMMS are in, the system only sees 256MB, it doesn't matter which DIMM i use either. The board apparently supports ECC memory, there is a setting in the BIOS i changed to indicate the ECC memory is present as well. I have cleaned the DIMMs contacts, as well as the DIMM sockets contacts with 99% alcohol, no change. Is there a setting in the BIOS that could need to be changed? possibly a BIOS update? what say you? The system has a Pentium 3 500/512 CPU in case anyone was wondering. Thanks for your help.

I remember mixing and matching DIMMs for a SY-6BA+III because it only supported certain combinations of modules simultaneously (and in a specific order too).

I'd suggest getting other DIMMs and trying different slots and combinations.

Sounds as though you're running into the 440BX memory density issue; here is a thread that should help you find memory modules that will work properly. Can anyone help me find the correct type of RAM? Asus CUBX 440bx

After watching many YouTube videos about older computer hardware, YouTube began recommending videos about trains - are they trying to tell me something?

Tauro, Repo Man11, thank you very much for your help, It indeed appears I need to try "lower density" DIMMs without buffer/parity chips. Not a big deal really. I really appreciate it 😀
