Hi,
I have a Matrox Millennium 576-05 Rev. B (Compaq OEM version) that I have no use for and so would like to give it to someone versus the trash can. It has been tested.
ebay etc is too much of a hassle. There is no RAM extension attached, so it is the base 2MB model
If you have any questions, please ask. I live in the UK so no idea what shipping might be like to another country. Otherwise, it is free
https://www.dosdays.co.uk/topics/Manufacturer … _millennium.php
Received now (had it sitting for some weeks at my friend's in the UK, so first at me now) 😀
As dfraser wrote - it's the 2 Meg version. Didn't work at first - but that was the switch "#2" that was set to "VGA DISABLE" .. Actually, first I thought it was "V-BIOS rot" as it worked in Windows GUI, but not in text mode. It seems that that particular issue didn't hit until the G-series cards though.
But running perfectly now, so thanks a lot! 😀 And it's an "R3" where the one I already had, was an "R2". No idea of the difference, though 🤣
If it's dual it's kind of cool ... 😎

Please use the "quote" option if asking questions to what I write - it will really up the chances of me noticing 😀

Passed this along as a local pickup to Mike, who arrived on his rad e-bike. 🤙 I spoke to him for a bit and mentioned that I'd gotten it originally from the VOGONS forum and invited him to join us. Hopefully we'll see him here at some point.
Anyone in the Ottawa Ontario area looking for treasure? Have I got a deal for you.
I need to dispose of all my retro hardware that I've owned and used for the last 30+ years. We're talking 6 desktops loaded with memory, cpus, gpus, sound cards of the day, floppy drives, cd and dvd burners, two 17 inch crt monitors, probably 50+ big box pc games (with a few apple // games thrown in). Think early pentium 90, pentium 2, athlon 64, I think one of the machines is a celeron 300 oc'd to 450, that's something I did at one time. But most are under a fan, and I'm not removing them to check. One of the machines is not so retro, an i7 6700k cpu / gtx 1070 machine from 2016.
Some of the cases are old beige ones, others fairly recent high end glossy black Antec and Define. Some of the other hardware is: asus a8v deluxe mb, micron millenia an430tx mb, stealth 3d 2000 pro video, msi 9800 pro video, geforce 2 sh pro mx video, canopus pure 3d II video card, soundblaster live, audigy 2 zs, ensonic soundscape. Many items have original boxes, cds, floppies, and manuals. There's also boxes and boxes of ribbon cables, case screws, accessories, and some of those cds and manuals (ie, not everything is in its proper place).
These were my daily use machines since the mid 90s, every time I bought a new machine I kept the old one figuring I'd do retro stuff one day. 95% of this was fully working, with the caveat that it's been years since these were tested. They've just been gathering dust since I never really did do the retro stuff I planned on. Two of the computers went "pop" and I bought a new one instead. Maybe the motherboard went, maybe the power supply, I didn't bother to figure out what part caused the machine to stop working because it was time for an upgrade.
All of this is heavy. I'm old and it practically killed me just getting some of this out of storage, and I'm not done yet. I'm not going to ship them anywhere. It's local pickup, or it will sadly be going to the local electronic waste dump in early August. Be prepared to make multiple trips, unless you own a moving van (lol).
I really want this to end up in the hands of someone who will appreciate it. Hopefully there's someone local.

I've been in similar situations twice in the past 10 years. (Didn't want to ewaste it but same time not invest too much time into selling it off individually)
First was post of CRT's here, Somewhat of a success as 2 out of 10 screens were collected by people on vogons.
Second was a van and a half of old PC's, servers, misc hardware. Basically I was selling stuff of individually but had ran out of time.
In both cases I managed to get rid of it on Facebook. I don't really use Facebook but as it's marketplace is more local your more likely to find someone to collect.
But I do hope someone here jumps on what looks like an amazing haul
Me and the wife have been renovating the house and I found anther hallowed out wall cubbie full of old parts I sealed over years ago and forgot about. it's mostly lanparty boards, and older high end dual GPU's like the Asus mars (keeping) and dual 6800, a few dual GPU AGP cards that IDK what they are and and what not, but also some ALR stuff and a some quantum3d and ppro server stuff.
No shipping, must pick up, first come first serve, must take it all or nothing, all parts will be sent off to scrap this friday if no one shows up, parts are in SE ohio.
Here is a short list of some of the parts however there is more.
ALR evo motherboard with ram and cpu cards.
4 ppo over drive CPU's.
2 dual socket 8 to slot one slockets
2 DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultra-Ds
DFI LANPARTY NFII Ultra B
DFI LanParty PRO 875
DFI LANParty LT X48-T2R
2 DFI LANParty UT X48-T3R
DFI LANPARTY UT P45-T3RS
Abit ix48-max
Asus x48 rampage extreme
Asus ALI chipset atx socket 7 board.
1 Obsidian Pro 100DB, no sli cable
3 Obsidian 100SB-4440, 2 are tagged as not working.
asus 6800 dual gpu card.
a hand full of dual gpu AGP cards idk what they are but google says they are 9800 PRO MAXX but they look more like prototypes with all the reworked traces and the heat sinks are glued so I can't removed them and found out what they are, the PCB are also a red and not orange like the photos online. one of the cards is different and has a black PCB, google brings up nothing on it.
tnt 2 ultra.
AGP voodoo 3000 its dead. But it has a black PCB so that's cool.
a few nec pcx PowerVR video cards one has the box.
There is a good chunk of 775 boards and AGP GPUs in the lot too but nothing out of the ordinary.
Hi. Tried to send a DM about this, but the forum says that you've disabled your private messages.
messaging is on and enabled on my end. others have reached out. in the past people who said they can't message me always end up cussing trouble...
Can you try sending me a message? Here is the error I'm seeing.

others are messaging me fine... looks like you are putting some random garbage in the to box, can't help you there 🤣
The problem seems to have solved itself. No idea. 🤷

Are you joking that all of this will be sent to scrap if people can't pick it up within two days of you making the post? There is so much rare and valuable hardware here that this seems like either a scam or a troll post.
Might want to post some pictures at least.
I would pay the shipping for all the Obsidian stuff.
Rav wrote on 2025-07-25, 03:11:I would pay the shipping for all the Obsidian stuff.
Nearly anyone here would gladly pay shipping or more for any of this stuff.
No offense intended to old school gamer man, but I would advise against anyone committing any money or travel-time to this without clear timestamped pictures of these items.
This thread has been around for several years and I've never seen someone casually giving away what is easily $10,000+ worth of highly desirable and easy-to-sell gear (some is complete unobtainium) with this looming threat of it all being destroyed within two days.
If it's legit and someone gets it, then great, but there's no denying what this looks like in 2025.
EDIT: Also, to be totally transparent, I am within a reasonable (if long) driving distance of south eastern Ohio. I'd need to see a LOT of pictures before making such a trip though. 😅

Agreed. Either they are made of money and don't care about the value of this stuff, or this ain't a legit giveaway.
Even just selling a handful of the items (Obsidian cards, PowerVR, etc.) would net a decent return.
If this lot is real and does wind up going to a scrapper, said scrapper might turn around and sell this stuff anyway.
God lord, I normally give away high end hardware on 2 other sites I'm a member of and never got this much drama. Its not worth my time to sell or deal with scammers the plague online marketplaces and its not really worth the money to go though everything it takes to sell the hardware. I would need to take a lot of good photos of everything, test every last bit, deal with 100s of tire kickers a week, deal with scammers who send me back the parts broken if not a box of rocks or just file charge backs and so on. I was wanting give some of the stuff away here in addition to the other sites I'm a member of but everyone is calling me a troll or scammer. If you guys wanted photos all you had to do was ask or message me for photos. If anyone wanted the parts all they had to do was reach out and message me too. Going right to he is a troll/scammer does not make me want to give any of the parts away here and TBH if someone reached out and said they needed a extra day or two I could have held the parts for a wile.
And no there is not really and value here other then the mars cards I'm keeping and maybe 50$ a pop the dfi boards at the most. the idea that this stuff is worth 10000+ is nuts. I had a working 100SB-4440 and the boxed power VR card listed on a few sites for over a year at 25$ and not had a single bite on it.... and I'm not dealing with shipping anything or listing it on eBay as those sites are full of scammers. The DFI boards are the only thing here I'm giving away with any valve and at best $50 a board before shipping and fees, finding someone to buy the ALR stuff is not happening, I had a lot of ppro and ALR stuff over the years and listed them every ware even eBay and they sat for years even at rock bottom prices only to be bought by people looking to scrap them, a quick look up on ebay shows most ALR stuff has been listed for years, most DFI boards only for for 50 to 100$ at the very most. After shipping and fees, dealing with any scammers, waiting on PayPal to release the funds witch takes 6 months... yeah I'm not bothering with that for at best 10$ a item in my pocket when I could just give them away, trash them and be done with it or get a few 100$ from taking it to the local scrap yard with the rest of the scrap from renovating my house and doing or other homes. I help fix up and flip homes so I'm at the yard a lot taking in old wire and aluminum siding and windows frames so I'm taking loads to the yard a lot and was going to toss this stuff on with it if no one wanted it.
WHY oh WHY can't I live in Ohio. 🤣
I would happily swing by and take it all if it wasn't over 500 miles away. Sad to see it all go to scrap. Oh well.
I get your stance on eBay and scammers. Honestly, the very few things I sell on there these days goes over smoothly, though, it can be very time consuming. Still, if I don't want to take the time, or the value isn't worth the time, I list items locally on FB marketplace or Craigslist, either for free, or super cheap to cover gas and time for a local meet-up. I haven't had much to offer since I joined Vogons, or I would be offering it up on here for free, just pay for shipping via PayPal (or whatever else). The only things I scrap these days are boards I've already stripped of parts, but I repair stuff all the time, so it makes sense for me, I just hate seeing any old tech go to the landfill or get scrapped. Though, my wife makes me keep it all in the basement. 😜
I wish you the best and I hope someone snags your lot of goodies. I know I would if I could. I think most people on here just really hate seeing it go to scrap. It hurts our souls. 🤣
I've bought and sold hundreds of items on Ebay and never run into a scammer. I can get not wanting to deal with the logistics of Ebay sales, but on the flipside it's literally turning down an opportunity for thousands of dollars.
Case in point, PowerVR cards sell for about $200 (USD) a pop there right now.
It's also not true it takes 6 months to get payments released. Initially selling on Ebay funds can be held for a few weeks, but once you get a few sales and positive reviews, funds are paid out typically within a day. Again, going from personal experience selling on Ebay.

I feel that man. I ended up giving away multiple loaded new-old-stock ALR 6x6 (Unisys Aquanta HS/6) servers via VCFED.org. Much smoother operations at that forum in regards to vintage hardware giveaways in my experience.

A lot of people in this site are into hardware repair and preservation. When you list a bunch of hardware including some rare and desirable items for short-notice pickup with the threat of it going to scrap, I'm not surprised it rubs people here the wrong way.
It's the antithesis of the spirit of why a lot of folks are in this hobby.
