The only disadvantage is the screen. I did buy a 11 inch tablet with oled and 11 inch e-ink reader last year and it is really hard to go back to those old TN screen on 1830T after using those. With how progress had slowed down in terms of performance... screen tech has really, really improved in last decade or so.

tell me about it.

I love my Thinkpad T60 and is my goto work-related laptop but man, that CCFL TN 14" screen...

... Nowadays it is basically impossible to find something that is not a tablet and is smaller than 13.3...

Tell me about it - here in front of me are two Acer "small laptops" (At least they didn't call them netbooks) with 15.5" screens!
(but they are reasonably thin - and in most other regards quite similar to the Acer netbooks)

Nothing too exciting. Found a couple of DDR1 RAM sticks. They were on a motherboard, that looked mildly interesting, but it was beyond repair due to damage taken in the recycling bin.

Coworker had an "old" PC that was his son's that lives with him sitting under a tarp in the yard of the house he just moved out of that I was helping him tidy up some trash, that was destined for the trash. Broken to crap Zalman iBuyPower case that is now in my dumpster and these goodies.
-Evga Supernova G2 850watt PSU
-Gigabyte Am3 board
-Phenom ii 1090t
-2x4gb ddr3 1600 Corsair xm3
-Hitachi 250gb HDD
-2007 Memorex IDE DVD multiwriter
-Blu-ray drive
-and what caught my eye was a HD 7990 that some of the 3.5 drive bays had been cut out of to fit the GPU

Main pc: Asus ROG 17. R9 5900HX, RTX 3070m, 16gb ddr4 3200, 1tb NVME.
Retro PC: Soyo P4S Dragon, 3gb ddr 266, 120gb Maxtor, Geforce Fx 5950 Ultra, SB Live! 5.1

Very nice! Time to clean it all up, give it a good inspection, and see if it all still works! 😀

Everything is absolutely disgusting and a couple days away from cleaning/playing with. Just getting everything out of the case took a solid hour + after getting home from getting it after work. Everything looks solid besides the HDD, and some rusty standoff holes on the mobo. Fingers crossed most of it is usable! Even came with a cracked dual antenna USB 3.0 wifi chip 🤣. CPU cooler is some massive Zalman dual 120mm job with some damage, looks usable despite said dual fans being ziptied!

The drives will be questionable, depending on what, and how long, they were exposed to the outdoors. On the MB, the CPU socket is the most fragile thing, hope it's good, nothing on the internal contacts. Maybe the GPU fans survived....

Yeah, would be fun to go through all that. 🤣

Let us know how it goes!

Was given a literal shoe box of what was described as “old computer junk” by the owner.

Also 3x 1.44MB floppy drives.

Not tested any of it yet, hopefully it’s all good!
