I've been buying old shows and toons I grew up watching in the 70's, 80's and early 90's.

So far, I've made it through Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! The Real Ghostbusters! Gi-Joe! Knight Rider! Quantum Leap! Airwofl! MacGyver! The Incredible Hulk!

Next up will be He-Man, Cheers, and The A-Team. 🤣

I just watched new episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful and Beyond the Gates (which premiered earlier this year). The latter will be headed towards its 100th episode on Tuesday! 😀

Now, I'll probably be watching baseball the rest of the way. ^^

"Pee-wee as Himself" documentary about the late Paul Reubens. Very interesting and well done.

Nice selection! Some might say buying physical copies is just buying slowly degrading media on fallible hardware... I however like to get DVDs when i can, they last a very long time mostly and can be imaged or digitised too. they are very cheap now and often perfect of tv shows and movies from back in the day. I really don't care about HD or 4k etc for these shows. Also, having the actual DVD might better, streaming services might drop some episodes or edit them to suit whatever.

Knight Rider remains a favourite even now 😀

Going back to the 90's sci fi shows - anyone like Tekwar? i missed that completely, I'll probably take a look, it seems kinda fun

I've got DVD's that are almost 30 years old (27'ish years?). All still in perfect shape. They will likely out live me, so I'm not worried. The world is flooded with players, so, they will still be around long after I'm gone. 🤣

Yeah, I'm fine with "DVD" quality as well. Oh, and Tekwar, amazing show! It's on my list! 😀

I've really been enjoying BoJack Horseman, a show I skipped back in the day. It’s laugh-out-loud funny most of the time, but by the third season, a few darker, heavier episodes start to creep in. These can really make you go yeesh and shake your head as you recognize some of BoJack's flaws in yourself. But you also get some totally unexpected episodes, like a particularly brilliant one that takes place entirely underwater, without an intelligible word spoken until the very end (this episode, iirc, also has some amazing music to go with it). Or, the episode consisting entirely of a single shot: BoJack giving a eulogy at a funeral.

The show really has an engaging storyline; several in fact, as most main characters have their own lore. With six seasons, the show has plenty of time to really develop them. Some seasons (or even certain episode arcs) focus on the struggles of supporting characters, not just BoJack. These shifts in perspective really do help to keep the show interesting and fresh. You even get to see some of the characters age as the story progresses (for example, BoJack's graying hair and Diane's weight gain); something you don't typically see in a cartoon. And I just love the goofy visual gags they put in the transition scenes, as well as Princess Carolyn's frequent bouts of alliteration. It's such a delightful show!

Oh, and ST:DS9 for the nth time. 👾

Some recent ones I've watched this year

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia S17 (Always good except for lame episodes here and there)
Dexter Resurrection (It's.....okay. More Dexter but not up to first show standards)
Dan Da Dan S2 (Good show, like the craziness of S1 better though and not as much interaction between the two leads)
Foundation S3 (Dunno, I watch it and like some things but seems to meander. Pretty hard to make a tv show out of this)
Great Expectations (2023) - (Yet another great expectations)
Kaijuu No 8 S2 (If you like S1 then S2 continues the plot)
Link Click S2 - (Pretty good)
Murderbot (Finished this one, it's pretty good. Books are good too.)
Poker Face S2 (Good)
Resident Alien S4 (Think they should probably end this soon if not already. I like it but not much left to do here)
Revival (Meh)
Rick and Morty S8 (Same old Rick and Morty)
Sakamoto Days
Sherlock and Daughter (Not much of a plot but it's watchable)
South Park S27 (Same old news of the week shit episodes)
Star Trek Strange New Worlds (More Trek)
Twisted Metal S2 (Sweet Tooth oh yeah)
The Black Dagger Brotherhood (this is one of those it's so bad it's....watchable)
The Decameron
The Institute (meh)
The Sandman S2 (Pretty good)

I'd consider myself somewhat of a trek fan, albeit the older stuff; I hadn't even heard of it - that shows how 'we' don't really have a shared culture anymore now that everything is behind streaming corps

back in the day it wouldn't have mattered what state, or even most country, you were in - eventually it would arrive on a broadcast channel, people would talk (actually talk!) and you'd get to hear about it and there'd be reruns and syndication to broaden its availability

although i hadn't heard of some of the others either, maybe same reasons or maybe i really am just (happily) out of touch with media releases these days and am not the target audience (I wouldn't pay to watch it anyway)

.. not sure if anyone saw it at the time but - "Y2K", The Movie, from 1999. It was a made for TV film. It's not a good film but also not terrible as entertainment, just lacking in substance and accuracy. Aside from that, it is full of scenes of 90's CRTs and computers and that overall 90's look and feel to the movie itself. Oh, and the maps on various screens are reminiscent of RTS games of the time 😀
