Warrior reporting....

....on a major squabble i'm having trying to install such a legendary game into my "war machine". (See the attached screenshots for context.)

For starters, the installer -it uses the infamously pesky Windows Installer thingy rather than the more ubiquitous InstallShield Suite- throws a file deletion request....without it being installed!
(It actually did it on both localized distributions of the game.)

Then, after playing with the InstallShield pack's settings , I've been able to run it in maintenance mode, where it thinks i'm reinstalling it.... on my external HDD!

....and then, i kept on editing said settings until it, #Finally, decided to get to work....except that it requested to install said game on a "network" drive, only to end up insalling it on my "Games" repository. Partially, that is.
(D:\Activision\ID Software\Doom 3)

BTW, here i'm including said setup settings for further scrutiny.

Are there any other sugguedtions on how to install this on Win11? #PleaseHelp

Is this purely for academical reason? Because you can transfer Doom 3 from any old OS without installation.

I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.

Maybe something is getting lost in translation, but why is the installer trying to create a "DOOM 3 server image" ?

Are you running the right installer ? Are you using original install media or the GOG release or something else ?

Use DHEWM3? And simply extract .pak files. However, I cannot guarantee that it works without problems on Windows 11.

Yup. I've been using the original "retail" installation/setup media #StraightThorough. It's been my personal policy after a huge bunch of troubles -Malware, corrupted/missing files, etc.- stemming from sourcing those same games as repacks rather than the official physical media (CD-ROMs/DVD-ROMs) or disc images, for that matter. This one in particular has been displaying the same quirks as illustrated on every single compatibility mode, even with them aforemntioned setup configuration tweaks.

A possible reason it still requests for a "network drive" instead of a proper setup address (like installing said game to either Drive C or D, for example) might stem from the fact that it won't recognize any extenal storage drives properly due to a bug on it's algorithm, which still mystifies me.

-WHAT A MAJOR HEADACHE IT IS!!!!

I have the original US English release of Doom 3 on 3 CDs (bought it on launch day).
I installed Windows 11 Pro in a VirtualBox virtual machine and I ran the Doom 3 installer successfully to completion.
To actually be able to run the game I had to install the Doom 1.3.1 patch.

I recorded the installation, in case that helps : https://jumpshare.com/s/jGmrUDIqE1b5id2AoyLf (Link will work for 24 hours).
EDIT: I understand that file attachment storage costs money, but being able to attach a 4.5MB mp4 file would have been nice. I didn't have time to try to tweak it into a animated GIF or PNG.

Maybe you are hitting something specific to the DVD release or to your localized version.
Either way, it might be worth testing the install process in a freshly installed Windows 11 virtual machine. EDIT: To rule a possible issue with your current Windows 11 install and/or an interaction with another installed application .
