For years I´ve dreamed about a streamlined retro setup containing both PCI and ISA sound cards, and also Voodoo3 paired with Voodoo1. All this working side by side. My latest Win9x machine contains a Voodoo3 2000 paired with Voodoo1, and SB Live! paired with Orpheus2. The sound signal goes from SB Live´s line-out to Orpheus2´s line-in and from Orpheus2´s line-out to the speakers. This enables using both sound cards simultaneously in Windows without switching channels, SB Live set as a preliminary audio device. Works beautifully!
