Hey guys,

I have this weird Abit TX5 motherboard with missing ATX connector. GND and +5V pins are bridged with two resistors in parallel. I thought that maybe somebody removed the connector but soldering on the bottom side is pretty consistent so I'm not 100% convinced. I'll try to make some decent photos from both sides but I'm just curious, if anyone came across something like this?

It's an early revision of the board but I can't find a single image of a TX5 board without an ATX connector.

The board works just fine with an AT power supply.

Cheers

Can I just drop an ATX connector in there? It seems to me all the components around it are populated.

The two resistors are (680Ohms in parallel = 340Ohms) probably used to signal the board circuitry to work in AT mode. They bridge PS_ON and GND pins, just like the board would normally do to turn on an ATX supply. The wire bridge redirects 5V to the 5V_SB (standby) rail, since there is no standby power on AT power supplies, this is needed to feed power into the circuitry of the board that would normally use that power rail.

Remove the parts that are there. If you then drop an ATX connector in there, it expect it to work fine with ATX power supplies. However you'll probably lose functionality with AT power supplies.

So I guess it's safe to assume it came out of the factory like that...
