Just wanted to share that I received my PicoGUS v2.0 today and the GUS emulation is working great but I've not been able to get a USB mouse working. I have the onboard serial ports disabled on the mobo, I have the PicoGUS in USB mode, the PicoGUS jumper is configured for IRQ3. pgusinit is configured with /mousecom 2. I'm using CTmouse /S23 and it throws the error: device not found. The one strange thing I'm noticing is that the LED's on the mouse go dark after a few seconds of plugging it in, like it's no longer receiving power, moving it doesn't wake it up, and I've tried a couple USB mice now.

I was just reading earlier in the thread, one person couldn't get COM2 to work but it did work with COM1. But also it seems that not every mouse works, people have reported issues with some wireless or wired mice. It's possible if the mouse presents multiple USB endpoints for other functions the PicoGUS firmware may not know which one to use. My suspicion is that this is more common with wireless mice for battery monitoring and pairing, but also may be the case for wired mice with RGB control and other stuff.

I'm about to finalise an order for a set of PC/104 PicoGUS 2.0's using UzixLS's GitHub project , which includes the Dream SAM2695 synthesiser. If anyone has any tips or experience with this version, I'd love to hear from you!

It seems with PCBWay that 5 cards essentially cost the same as 1 (apart from the component costs). At most, I'd like to keep two of these, so I'd be very happy to pass the others on at cost price - anyone interested please get in touch! (I'm in the UK, which might make a difference for import duties etc. depending where you are).

I would definitely be interested in a card 😀

New PicoGUS firmware release:
https://github.com/polpo/picogus/releases/tag/v3.2.1

Fixes several regressions in pgusinit:

  • Fixes issue where port settings are parsed as decimal, not hex (fixes /mpuport, /gusport, /cdport, etc.)
  • Fixes /sbport and /gusport commands not passing through option
  • Fixes /wifistatus command
  • Restores /defaults command

General

  • Gives VREG a bit more time to settle at bootup/reset. Should improve stability on initial poweron, after changing modes, or flashing firmware.

I'll admit, that bug threw me off for a second when I saw the info message come up with an unexpected port value. Then I gave my monitor a side eye stare and thought to myself knowingly, "I see what you are up to!"

Phil just put out a video covering the CD-ROM Emulation feature

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkzHC6B1bKY

Edit: Reading the comments it appears that there is a decent amount of interest in physical MKE device emulation for various legacy hardware devices. Obviously the PicoGUS can't do that but it would be interesting if the upcoming PicoIDE eventually had an adapter to make it pin compatible with the physical MKE interface.

Edit2: The v3.2.1 zip file is triggering windows defender so people may have difficulty downloading it on a modern system, I downloaded it directly to the system with the PicoGUS using the Webone proxy and it works fine.

It is the CD ROM connector on the Sound Blaster cards

Has anyone got Windows 95 sounds working? I can't seem to find correct drivers for SB 2.0 that would work. 🙈 CD-Rom emulation works fine.
