It can be Win9x 3DCIF/Direct3D/OpenGL game. Requirement i would like to have: readme or game setup supports ATi Rage Pro / ATi Rage II / ATi Rage
It can be also written on CD, many 3DCIF games may have ATi 3D Rage / Powered by 3D Rage, Direct3D has ATi / Resident Evil 2 has Graphics by Rage
If we go past that, then please add here Win9x 3DCIF/Direct3D/OpenGL games that runs well on ATi Rage Pro or other Rage 3 cards, like Rage XL AGP

Some ATi titles here:
https://web.archive.org/web/19971017075118/ht … titles_ATI.html
https://web.archive.org/web/19971017075135/ht … s_upcoming.html

ATi 3DCIF list here:
https://gona.mactar.hu/3D/
3D Accelerated Games List (Proprietary APIs - No 3DFX/Direct3D)

I start with small list, some games from 1997 - 2000.

MotoRacer 1997
G-Police 1997
GLQuake 1997
Quake2 1997
Incoming 1998
Battlezone 1998
Resident Evil 2 1998
World Cup 98 1998
Forsaken 1998
Colin Mcrae Rally 1998
Thief the Dark Project 1998
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil 1998
AFL 99 1998
NFS4 1999
Driver 1999
Colin Mcrae Rally 2.0 2000

If you know what game patch improves some performance, like MotoRacer patch 3.22 does,
then add this information as well or just add what game or game version works best for you.

Maybe you have played it yourself or you know what games have ATi RagePro support.
Add here games that work well with ATiThreeD 4-8MB acceleration cards , Thank you!

Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind

The first Bubsy game was released by Accolade in May 1993 for the Super NES, and in July for the Sega Genesis. The plot focuses on Bubsy retrieving the world's yarn supply from the invading Woolies.Super Bubsy, a port of the game to Windows 95 developed by ATI Technologies, was released on May 19, 1997. It contained completely redrawn graphics and the Bubsy cartoon pilot, unlocked for viewing by collecting all 20 hidden TVs in the game.

Is this one of the more exlusive game for old ATi Rage2&Rage3 cards and one and the only game developed by ATi Technologies?

You already have it but I was pleasantly surprised how well the onboard Rage Rage 128 played NFS4.
That PC was the "guest PC" for LAN games at home, and played other LAN games, mostly RTS's with most demanding would have been RA2 or Empire Earth fine

I imagine, its even newer Rage128 or Rage128Pro you have there (Rage4 card). NFS4 plays ok with Rage3 as well. 😀

Someones run with Rage Pro at bencmarks and games.

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil 1998
Unreal Gold 1999
Viper Racing 1998
Wipeout 2097 1997

Also there is quite good information and generational uplift visible Rage2 vs Rage3 (RagePro).
Here NFS4 also faster than NFS3 with Rage Pro and one other newer game is faster than older.
Turok2 vs Turok1 has small advantage to the newer title and Turok1 game has slower fps @cif.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am most shocked about Indiana Jones Infernal Machine results if the game 3D Accelerator Card Required does not list Rage Pro at all
https://www.theindyexperience.com/video_games … equirements.php

Indiana Jones - 1999 game
Rage Pro 8MB AGP Results!

800×600/16: 53.4 FPS
800×600/32: 46.0 FPS
1024×768/16: 33.6 FPS

I may run tiny amount Direct3D/OpenGL games myself from this list to compare results, maybe 4-6 games, not more.

Thanks for the tip about Super Bubsy.
A video game developed by ATI.
Let's see if I can get it.

Oni Bungie 2001, the requirements indicate Rage Pro.

I wonder what Pro+ refers to.

Thanks, i have not played it. Is it Direct3D game? Site seems to say that its OpenGL 1.2 game and thats not that RagePro can handle at hardware level.
Its Win 95 game and RagePro is supported, so it works,i dont know why video modes has RagePro+ and at Graphics supported RagePro without its +.
Bit strange that it has OpenGL 1.2.x and it works with RagePro, setup needes Windows 98+, but after game install, it works with Windows 95 as well?

Maybe its about Anniversary edition that has newer OS requirement and newer hardware support, but the original game just works.

Rage Pros/XLs were on the earlier iMacs so of course Bungie had to think about them in development. The game doesn't use much alpha blending so I can't see why it (the original Oni release, not some 'fixed' fan version) wouldn't work.

Seems both Mac and PC versions use OpenGL at ONi then? Mac OS had QD3D API with Rage.

I did try Oni demo, but after intro black screen, then other Rage Pro opengl versions, still same, then GLDirect, still same, then darkgl opengl32.dll, still same. Its Windows 98SE and DX9, all other usual OpenGL games work. It wants to use OpenGL, GLDirect screen come up right after oni.exe. Raedme has no info about Rage Pro, some other cards are there with Problems and solutions and Rage 128 is mentioned.

Maybe now is the time to try full game and patches. Not so promising start for that game at the moment.

Oni full game works with Rage Pro and latest OpenGL for sure, I don't remember having any trouble getting it to run. Quite playable as well.

have you made a compatibility matrix for the win9x ati drivers? I had serveral issues with this: Xenon 2000: Project PCF (Windows)
I had to use a very old driver 2440? in order to make it work. this driver has issues with acdsee3 on displaying old monochrome images.

so what dx-version and ati-driver-version are you using on win95 and win98. thx!

Thank you for you input about Xenon 2000! Sorry, the reply got again long this time.

Also i have do google what acdsee3 is and maybe even what monochrome image is. 😀
I will Google them later. I have used win98se lately and not win95b osr2 so much.

No, i have not made any matrix. I am honest, i dont like making excel tables so much.
You are better pointing out what works with DX5 2440 dirver and why its better, and
id like to hear all your success with those drivers vs other DX5 drivers and latest DX5?

Have you used latest DX5 driver 4.10.2535_win9x_Rage_1998-12_3D-10.4002?
Maybe its not that hard to add DX5 OpenGL do 2440 driver if it misses OpenGL ICD?
Latest wont work, but 1045 or up to 1065 may, you use MGL1036 OpenGL for now?

I use my own driver and i know some tiny shortcomings with it, mostly you dont need more than DX7, but i have used DX6.1.
Also i have used DX8 and DX9. Dxdiag Direct3d test works up to DX8, if you dont use any DX9 game, id say install latest DX8.
Look from the games you play and the games you want do run with it and install DX version for your needs, minimally DX6.0
This goes with my driver, i havent try it with DX5. Also i have not played that much games and for that, need users feedbacks.
Of course i have used older DX3 and DX5 games and most work well with 5.40 drivers, use DX7a or DX8/Maybe DX81 for 5.40.

In some cases DX5 driver or its D3D is better, i have not made any list. Some D3D games work with DX6 driver and DX5 D3D.
Mostly you have to use DX6 driver and DX6 D3D or DX5 driver and DX5 D3D, but this rule does not matter for Rage3 OpenGL.

My DX6 drivers go well from OpenGL 4.11.1068 up to 4.12.1107v2 (latest).

I have used 2440 D3D file and i have used 2440 driver shortly. How is the latest DX5 working fro you, have you used 2535?
Can you compare 2440 vs 2535 and also compare it with my 5.40 if you can? I can send you driver cleaner to make it fresh.

Everyones input has great value and i need to be more in nature, thats my real place, but i love some old computers also. 😀

DX5 4002 D3D i have used with 5.40 driver, i have this changed file somewhere, without change DX5 4002 works only with
macxw4 driver. Special D3D file is needed for newer driver, after some change they work, but work only ati2ddad driver and
with some cases, i have used it for Turok D3D fog and 2440 D3D file also with ati2ddad driver, then fog good.

With tiny 5.40 driver pump i will add one of them do the 5.40 driver and if you say that 2440 d3d is better than 2535 one,
i will gladly add 2440 d3d instead of 2535 d3d file to the 5.40 driver, but dx6 d3d would still be default and dx5 d3d second
option. This will be compability option with one 1 downgrade.

After Windows 9x booted up, you can change d3d file without any problem with .bat file, just it works so far if you do not
start any d3d programs, so basicly it needs new pc restart if you have played games, OpenGL change works at any point
and always, does not need restart at all. D3D file version change possible, but OpenGL file change even better.

Turok1 CIF fog always good, but Turok1 D3D fog not good with DX6 D3D

Turok1 D3D fog works with DX6 drivers and DX5 D3D
Turok1 D3D fog does not work DX6 drivers and DX6 D3D
Turok1 CIF fog works with DX5 and DX6 drivers

Turok1 sky has tiny small issues with DX5 D3D
vs
Turok1 sky has probably no issue with CIF sky

Turko2 fog works great DX6 dirvers and DX6 D3D.
Turok2 i have not tested with DX5 D3D or DX5 drv
