Hello there, I've acquired a Celeron 300a SL32A, as I never had one before and read exstensively about it's legendary overclocking, so wanted to try for myself.
I've got it to 100 FSB / 450MHz, however it required 2.2v to be stable at that speed, anything lower, it will BSOD. I can also run at default 66 FSB / 300MHz at a nice undervolted 1.6V.
I do have a PII 400MHZ and a PIII 733MHz as well, but just fine the 300A very interesting compared to the other two, but my concern is using the processor at 2.2V.
Heat is no issue, I have cleaned the fan, repeasted the heatsink, it does not get hot to the touch when benching at 450, and I also have a 80MM fan over my Voodoo which keeps everything well ventialted and cool.
My motherboard is an Abit BH6, recapped - I read the VRMs are good up until 2.8v, but it is an old board nontheless.
I would like some opinions on this one, yay or nay, should I even consider and overvoltage using such an old board, or stick to a more efficient Deschutes/Coppermine CPU for my aged BH6?
