Metal Gear Solid (1999 PS / 2000 PC) - This game has hardware acceleration only with 8 bit paletted texture support?
Someone have played it with RagePro/RageXL? Also Metal Gear Solid PC game is not listed in vogonswiki.com website.
https://www.mobygames.com/game/3635/metal-gear-solid/ , Re: Metal Gear Solid PC
Look for an entry called "8 bit | RGB PAL8". If you can't find it, your graphics card/driver setup won't support 8-bit palletized textures, so Metal Gear Solid's engine fallbacks to software mode.
Minimum
Operating system (OS) Windows 95
Processor (CPU) Intel Pentium II 233 MHz
System memory (RAM) 32 MB
Storage drive (HDD/SSD) 400 MB
Video card (GPU) 4 MB of VRAM
Recommended
Operating system (OS) Windows 95

Direct3D
ATi RagePro / RageXL / Rage128 / Rage128 Pro supports 8bit paletted textures , D3D games on that list should be fine.

OpenGL
For ATi Rage3 + OpenGL and paletted textures use GLDirect 3.0 (4MB and 8MB cards) or Glide2CIF (8MB cards) at Quake (GLQuake)
