its actually a 3rd party heatsink. Made by Thermaltake as memory serves me. In this case, Sapphire just bought a bunch of (likely) overstock coolers and dropped this 'special edition'.

Even as a 'special edition', I wish it was in my collection.

I have a regular 9800Pro. Any ideas where I might find a cooler with Sapphire branding?

Attached original packaging. Oh my. 15€ is just not acceptable! I am deflating.. 😀

It's from my local thrift store...I also got a voodoo 3 3500 and 2 GA-5AX for the same amount over the years. They just sell any "computer card that looks big" for this price. Memory sticks are usually 3€.

If there was anything like this near me I would be there every day.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

It’s based on the Zalman ZM80C-HP. Quite a nice cooling solution. Zalman also offered an optional low noise fan that mounted on the side.

Not sure if it’s overstock since it has the Sapphire logo on the heatsink and on the aluminium brackets on the side/rear of the card 😀.

I think it was made by Zalman for Sapphire and their fanless card edition. Thermaltake also offered a similar, dualpipe solution: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/thermaltake-giant-3/ which I had on my GeForce4 Ti4200 64MB from PointofView and I don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but a few weeks after installation and operation in passive mode (no blower and fan) artifacts appeared and I had to exchange the card for another one.

Since then, my cooler has been in the box and I haven't had the opportunity (and the courage) to try it on another card. Once installed, it will take 3 slots.

Just purchased as ASUS ARES graphics card. A very rare find, as only 999 were ever made. It will pair beautifully with my ARES II—I’ll use one in my X48 build and the other in my X58 build.

Ironically, the ARES was twice as expensive as the ARES II.

In an unfortunate turn of events, the ARES stopped working while the seller was testing it and I got a refund. PayPal ate a good 90€ off the amount.

Do you think I should try a thrift store holiday in the EU? Seriously.

Hi there
long time no see

I found nothing unusual for a while, but i just received this really sweet Onkyo SE-300PCIE.
It is one of the few "non Creative" X-Fi sound cards. Probably the ultimate X-Fi variant.

Japan exclusive, so very hard to find in Europe. I was very happy to find one locally, complete in box and at a very good price.
This will be the highlight of my "End of XP" build (i7-2700K, 980Ti)

I used "Daniel K" driver package and it works very well under XP. https://danielkawakami.blogspot.com/2021/08/f … port-packs.html

"Hello, my friend. Stay awhile and listen..."

That is a lovely sound card. Finding it complete in box even more so. Very nice find.
