I'm jealous!! To confirm: if you run ek1m.exe -c after your autoexec, with no other commands, does it really show the configuration? Mine doesn't 🙁

Yep, it shows the actual config (actually a whole page of settings).

I think all the people that reported this problem are using 4 channel live cards, potentially they are all a value variant as well

My model is CT4760 (https://www.dosdays.co.uk/topics/images/sblive_ct4760.jpg). I don’t think it’s a “Value” card but I guess it is 4 channel.
