You dont need a mustache twirler.

'Concerned Parents!' Will suffice. The kind that never think anything through, and insist on immediate and complete adoption of anything that whispers 'safety!' In their ear.

In most old boards, SecureBoot can be disabled. The PROBLEM in the future will be mandated and artificial requirements to have it turned on. This latter is the 'Concerned Parents' involvement.

The enforcement of product lifecycle may even be viewed *favorably*, because of attrition of vulnerable systems in circulation.

Historicity, nostalgia, or any other such conception, is put in the same box as 'dangerous crazy.'

Basically, 'Mommy' (as a cognitative archetype) positively *adores* 'mommy knows best' as a policy.

Only naughty children dislike it.

I see...
And in fact, the truly 'naughty' ones are those criminals. We're the good guys!

They said therefore to him: Who are you?
Jesus said to them: The beginning, who also speak unto you

Secure boot is nonsense, literally fascist, if not allowed to be disabled. It should only be there as an option for those who are really paranoid, the Joe Averages who never even tinker with their OS anyway and are too tech illiterate to avoid malware, and for enterprise use. Its my computer, I will not be told what I can and cannot freaking run on it. Its bad enough this is an issue with modern cellphones (which has snowballed into me even having to emulators on some of them to run ARMv7 apps, and use tools to bypass "for your safety" legacy app blocking at times), if it comes to computers that will be super unacceptable at best. My device, MY choice. I will not be forced to run exclusively big brother approved operating systems, at a minimum that would kill a large multiboot project of mine and at worst do much worse things. I will not be told "oh you modded that software/game without the author's legal approval and violated your disassembler's terms of service, you can't run that its not trusted or safe boo hoo". Whether it is my pile of Coppermine, Dothan and Northwood based retro systems, or my modern Ryzen gaming computers, nobody has any right to tell me how I use my own property and I will not believe nonsense "secure boot is for your own good" crap. I can tolerate it on cell phones to some degree but even that sucks, computers on the other hand... freaking unacceptable at best. And for anyone complaining about signature verification for flashing BIOS, AFAIK you can do whatever you want with it if you have one of those chip programmers but I have not tried personally. If anything I bet those of us like myself who have even half decent binary reversing/patching skills will be the secret unsung heros in a future dystopia. I'll happily accept the challenge of removing forced secure boot from my devices if I have to, its probably still gonna be easier than fixing undocumentably cursed issues on cutting edge fab tools at my old job so I can probably handle it.

Brothers! THANK YOU!
Your words flow like music for my soul!!!

And to all fellow retrocomputing enthusiasts... I was just pushing my nostalgia at max by searching "486 computer" on Amazon (Italy).... 🤣 and look at what gem came up!!! Like, really? I ordered it immediately!:

Descriptions like:
"before silicon valley preached equity"
"LAN parties were battlegrounds for glory, not sensitivity workshops" 🤣!!!
"the myth that progress means surrendering to soy-boy SaaS or feminist reboots" [I don't know what SaaS means, but I guess I'd agree. Haven't looked it up yet]
"why DOOMguy's shotgun diplomacy beats therapy-speak" (AHAHAHAH)
"physical media trumps cloud-simp servitude" (OOOOOOH MAN!!!! THIS SENTENCE IS EPIC!!!! THIS HAS JUST BECOME ONE OF MY signatures!!!!!!
"burn the woke code"
"the 486 didn't apologize-neither should you"
"Available until the thought-police raid the print queue" (unmissable reference to Orwell)
"Discover how overclocking became the ultimate middle finger to corporate mediocrity"

This guy got grit!

I usually ABHORR self-published books, and avoid them like the plague. A couple of times I fell into the trap, few years ago, and I found in my hands some piece of ai-poorly-generated, poorly-formatted, errors and mistakes-filled manure crap.
But in this case I made an exception. And if it's AI-manure, I'll return it right away! It deserves a shot...

I am a retired gamer. I 100% lost interest in gaming when buying the disk was no longer enough.

My first copies of Diablo1 and Starcraft were bootlegged. I enjoyed the games so much that I bought legit copies just to support the company (Blizzard). Same with Quake and quite a few others. Everything wanting a subscription is just nuts.

When it comes to anti-malware & antivirus I always tell folk 'if all they can do is predict doom & gloom until you buy a subscription, you don't need it'.

If you tolerate this, then your children will be next.

So what if you have to have UEFI for modern OSes and very new boards do not support legacy booting. It was always going to move away from legacy BIOS to something else due to security concerns.

And if you want to run an old OS on new hardware that doesn't have support for such things as ISA and AGP, then run a VM or other emulation software.

There is a point where stuff is obsolete and is only used by those who want to use it and don't expect it to work with or like new hardware.

Since we don't like security, let's go back to the time where there was zero security for online purchases and you could use a credit card number generator and the randomly generated card number would be approved.

Let's also get rid of all safety features on vehicles while we are at it.

Building codes are just a stifling thing for people to build buildings.

We can also go back to using asbestos since it worked so well. Cancer... Who cares about cancer?

It's because of knee-jerk reactions like these that things usually get *worse* (more restricive and draconian vis-a-vis of utility) and not better.

The whole idea that "they know better than we" has gone to an extreme when "we" no longer have a chance. "We" who have intelligence and want options, are having them taken away. Very often because of corporate greed, graft, and / or all the wrong reasons.

Think about that. If I want to still use asbestos, and I know might give me cancer, I should be able to -- as long as I do not harm anyone else by doing so! The cancer risk is greatly, greatly exaggerated, by the way by those with an economic agenda. Now, cigarettes, THERE'S a cancer risk.

Absolutely brother!
At the end of the day, it all boils down to the growing violation of the fundamental human rights and freedoms.
There is dissidence in the world, although it is a minority compared to the general population. However, the standard methods used by 'dissidents' don't work, cannot work: protests, violence (even worse, it grants the excuse of further restrictions later), strikes, fiscal strikes, petitions... Long story. Furthermore, even if they worked (they don't, but let's pretend for a moment), to be significant they would require the participation of the entire population, or at least a large chunk of it, which makes them impossible. Utopia.
There is a strategy which:
1) is effective and works. It can truly defeat the system, not just in one country, not just one government, but worldwide and undermine the very mechanisms of power that also move entire governments like pawns
2) does NOT require the involvement of millions of people, just a few thousands in one major country, to begin with. With a few tens of thousands, we defeat them for good.

It has started, it is growing. Whoever is interested in actually doing something can message me.
Not selling anything. Not requiring to subscribe to any 'organization'. Won't require any data, subscriptions, personal information, nothing. Won't even be asked your name or email. It's free, you won't be asked for a dime. You get trained at your pace. Everybody can do it, there are actions and strategies for literally everybody. We have even old women in their 80s, even some on a wheelchair. You get trained on what can be done, how, and why. Then it's your discretion to choose if to do anything and, if so, what to do, where, when, and with what frequency. Rigorously non-violent, but strategic. A set of primitive and modern techniques, never used before in the human history.

So what are we betting on? That you're part of an secret enlightened movement who are using a set of techniques to fight back against violations of humanity's fundamental human rights and freedoms? These techniques are both primitive and modern at the same time somehow, and you guys are so unique and special that you're doing something never before seen in human history? (who confirmed that BTW? One of your 80 year old women?)

You'll have to at least dot point these techniques here for me before I commit my 100USD. But do you even need my money? If you're able to move entire governments like pawns then surely manipulating finance systems would be childsplay.

Life? Don't talk to me about life.

At this point, I'm not sure if this is a troll, a bigot, or someone having a psychotic episode. And I'm not saying that last one to offend, it genuinely looks concerning. I've seen it before. Mental health is no joke.

I have found that trying to herd normies for some cause never works. They don’t understand and don’t care. Focusing on what you can control yields the best results.

I have also totally lost my taste for the new stuff. I don’t own anything that can secure boot, neither do I intend to. Problems like these are best fixed with an axe and a back actor.

As for what to do about the the world “going to shit” best suggestion I have is bitcoin in self custody and tor. The node and wallet software compiles and runs just fine over tor on pentium4 class hardware, which is pre-ME and pre-UEFI.

Not wveryone’s taste, I know, but if this bothers you I would start exploring in that direction.

Brother, what you are asking me, to put it here in writing, takes a lot of time. I'll be happy to do that, but it's gonna take a while for me to find that kind of time.
Tell you what, why don't you join an audio call on Telegram? somebody will tell you what it entails: the pillars of the strategy, why they work, how, what proves that they work (objective proofs, and with numbers), how it started, where it is now, where it is heading... And you can ask all the questions you want. If your main language is not English, you can be served in Italian, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian.

Meanwhile, here's a couple of short audios you can listen:

[conspiracy links removed]

By the way: very against AI and plans to stop it as well (not doable right now, it will require other steps first for reasons available to be discussed).

Lemme know if and when you're available for a voice chat and I'll direct you to somebody.

The invitation is open to y'all guys.

Oh and, before judging something, at least get to know it first.
(Not a no-judge advocate here. I do judge, sure. I'm not a hypocrite. But first, get to know, then judge).

Almost forgot...

badmojo wrote on 2026-02-27, 21:57:

How about you get shown significant and numerous government's reactions and employment of men and logistics in response to actions that take a few minutes and one or two people, everything thoroughly and publicly documented?
Or putting Facebook down for hours, with Meta hiring an agency to study the phenomenon, which concluded: "these people... know what they are doing".
Or forcing mainstream media (local and regional at the moment, but occasionally also national and international) to say and show things that they would absolutely never dare saying or showing, with some actions so impacting that sometimes they were covered overseas, such as on the Washington Post or even in India?
Would that suffice to prove to you that it is serious?

Well, I'm very libertarian, and highly critical about various modern idiocies... but I'm not interested in making anti-vaccine graffiti 😜

Also, my first association with "anti-VAX" is the VAX vs. RISC / VMS vs. Unix holy war...

In 2003, I voted in favour of joining the European Union. However, due to recent developments - especially the restrictions on cash usage - I'm hereby withdrawing my support. DOWN WITH THE EU!

Sorry, I just can't stop laughing about all that sudden anti-5G panic, while nobody seems to care about the earlier generations of cellular networks.

Seriously, I'm afraid that some of your concerns are perfectly valid - but mixing them with anti-vaccine and anti-5G nonsense is totally deterrent.

It is completely anonymous and trains people on being anonymous and untrackable, both on the physical territory and with the tech devices.

It is sooo anonymous that it uses Telegram - a service which requires a phone number to register 🤣
Guess what: in many countries it's required to register phone numbers, and even where it isn't, there's still the history of BTS<->phone communication, which already tells a lot about the user's location, and may be enough to identify the person.
