Looks like it will be a nice cute machine.

Thanks.
I have decided to try a couple of other SD-card adapters, they are so cheap anyway that it is way cheaper than to try to order new SD-cards.
I have ordered a different brand that connects to regular 44-pin IDE, and also a smaller one that connects to laptop cables. I have anyway a regular to laptop connector converter, that worked successfully with my laptop hard drive. Too bad the old laptop hard drive gave its last dying breath under OS installation...

Picked up some new hardware!
I got a used 19" monitor, a Dell 1905SP. I only paid NOK 200,- for it, which is equal to about 20 US dollars. I had to firmware reset it for it to start accepting a signal again. I can now use both analog (D-SUB) and DVI inputs.

I also got a soundcard with positional audio, a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2

OK so the new SD-card adapters worked fine with my 32 GB cards. What a waste of time that first one was. I don't know if that type is unreliable in general, or if I just got a bad example.
W98 installed fine, and I have been able to get all chipset drivers installed for the Southbridge of the chipset.
OK so now I am super frustrated. I am trying to get my video card to work - the FX 5500 256MB i presented in the first post. I have tried various drivers. With the latest drivers from Nvidia - Force Ware 86.x, but then I could not change screen resolution without system freeze/hangup. I uninstalled using an uninstall manager, and installed FW 68.x instead. I can now change screen resolutions and color depth without any issues. YAY.
However, hardware acceleration is not turned on. When I run DirectX, neither DirectDraw or Direct3D accelleration will activate!
Does anybody know what might be causing this?
I have tried reinstalling drivers. I have tried reinstalling DirectX. I feel increasingly frustrated.
🙁

Driver 45.23 and 56.64 are the usual ones recommended for this card. I think 45.23 needs to have an inf file edited to allow install though .
