CPU-Z freezing at 15% is a known issue. possible workarounds:
1. Use CPU-Z v1.59 or earlier - 1.59 is the last version without that issue
2. reinstall windows - fresh install will load latest cpu-z until at some point it somehow starts freezing again
3. use cpu-z vintage edition - that one validates and doesn't freeze

I usually go with option 2 - i got a slim windows xp install (i call it "bench xp") and made an image of that. as soon as it startes freezing cpu-z i'll just write the image back and start over. usually that happens after a crash/freeze or when i'm booting the system at slightly unstable settings.

The percentage seems to differ across versions but the freeze always happens at CPU, and one thing I noticed - only on Athlon XP. For instance, my other boards go past that - KG7-RAID, ST6, P4B533-E. Version 1.57 (I think the same version supercordo uses) is where I could get past the freeze.

As for the Windows install - it's as stock as MCE2005 gets - outside visual stuff (Zune theme, Kaela Kovalskia wallpaper) it's pretty much stock, save for a Ford Racing 3 game install I usually used to test R3xx/RV350/360 cards for stability.

Using this as a bit of a diary for my tweaking and tuning.
Build thread: Re: Dual Athlon MP Rig Build and Repair | K7D Master in a Chieftec Dragon
1st result
2x Athlon MP Palomino 2000+ @ 1725MHz (138MHz FSB/34MHz PCI)
2x1GB DDR @ 138MHz
Nvidia 7800GS 256MB @ 4x, stock clocks
ASUS Xonar DS
Promise SATA + 128GBSSD

Clearly got some way to go! Next stop is to mod a pair of Bartons to see where I can get to, and possibly change my sound card as a gent in the build thread suggests.

See what you get with Cpumark and SuperPi.

So, for context (and to make myself feel better, even if I realise I've just placed 10th in the 3DMark01SE leaderboard), the 760MPX based K7D is really hard to get anything higher than 140MHz stable out of it. I am considering now whether I want to modify the 2.5v regs so I can manually overvolt the memory, as I cannot do that from the BIOS. I suspect I am running into the electrical signal limits at this point for the standard 2.5v DDR voltages, trying to get the timings and speed faster together. I did add some additional rudimentary cooling to give everything a fighting chance....

With that said, I have done a few things, tightened the memory timing, played with the AGP latency timing and the PCI latency timing. And as a bonus, I've ran Cinebench 2003 so at least there's a chance of showing off some of the multithreaded capabilities of the system, can't let all the single thread apps have all the fun!

Now my timings are 2.5-3-3-6, again not groundbreaking but pretty hard to tweak with the 760MPX chipset and 2x CPUs to feed. I would definitely benefit from modding these Barton 2500s and ditching these Palominos, then I'm not having to feed other components so much electricity.

STOP PRESS: Idiot me didn't realise it was still writing to my NAS. SuperPi Time is 1m 10.125s once I moved it to my SSD. Please pardon the double post, couldn't figure out how to edit the previous.

Ill update the scores later today. Let's not used this thread as your personal diary.

I no longer have the Radeon 9000 Pro I was using with my nForce2 board, leaving me with just the IGP for now.

Since nobody else has submitted a Duron Applebred score, does this mean if I participate I'll be #1 by default? 😁

It does. But aim high with it. Someone will come along and knock you down to #2 really quick. 😉😉😉
