I've been experimenting with the games included with Windows and found that many of them can actually run on much older OSes and lower-spec hardware than you'd think.

Here are some interesting results from my testing, along with online playable links:

FreeCell: Windows 3.0 Real Mode
Hearts: Windows 3.1 Standard Mode
Spider Solitaire: Windows 95 with only 4MB RAM
3D Pinball: Windows 3.1 386 Enhanced Mode with 8MB RAM
Fury3: Windows 3.1 enhanced mode with 16MB RAM (running via js-dos with the DOSBox-X engine)

(Note: I didn't include Reversi, Solitaire, or Minesweeper since they are already widely available in standard Windows 3.0/3.1 web emulators.)

Curious to hear if anyone else has managed to push these games onto even lower specs or weirder setups! Enjoy!

It makes sense as these often came from somewhere else originally. FreeCell is from one of the Windows Entertainment Packs, and 3D Pinball is Microsoft's adaptation of Full Tilt! Pinball.

3D pinball had a few cosmetic changes over the years pity the unofficial 64bit port is not accurate.

Fury3 supported Win32s and doesn't need 16mb. I've played it on WFW back a 1995 ago on a 8mb 486

I had always thought FreeCell was firstly introduced in Win32s, until I found it in Windows Entertainment Packs.

Sorry I've forgot to increase swap file (originally 0.5M). Here's the update:

3D Pinball: Windows 3.1 386 Enhanced Mode with 2MB RAM + 8MB Swap File
Fury3: Windows 3.1 386 Enhanced Mode with 4MB RAM + 16MB Swap File (running via js-dos with the DOSBox-X engine)

Performance doesn't seem to drop.
