Has anyone here seen or used one before? They were produced by MSI for Aldi's OEM "brand", Medion.
It seems they are readily available for VERY little money - <10€ for some of the cards, like the 9600 GT, which is the last one with the breakout connector while others like the Radeon 9800 XL and XXL, which were the first ones with the connector, are pricier. And the breakout adapter (MS-4073) can be picked up around 5.

I figure that must be great for emulation, since you should be able to connect a wealth of CRT monitors or, better yet, TVs, to the PC.

But how do these breakout connectors work? Do they just permanently clone the the output? Do I need to use a special driver or software for it to work?

No Special driver needed i assume. they'll very likely just use the regular analog video output that the G94 has. They just broke it out into proper connectors, rather than the single DIN connector + a dongle.

I have this 9600 GT... but only the card, not the breakout adapter.
It really needs active cooling as the stock passive heatsink is absolutely inadequate. Also I remember the analog VGA output was blurry as hell. In fact I have never seen that bad VGA output. DVI was fine. Also could be just bad piece, who knows.

I have already upgraded the cooler to an after market model, pretty sure that in the original PC it shipped in, a case fan was blowing almost directly onto the heatsink, so it was more of a semi passive cooling. But I might misremember that.

Are you using analog or digital DVI? The card has a DVI-I connector that can output either analog or digital, and if its analog picture is fine, then you know there is just something wrong with the VGA output, not with the whole analog outpu (that would also affect everything the breakout adapter connects to).

It was 10 or more years ago, I don't really remember all that well... but possibly it was both VGA and DVI with adapter. DVI-D was fine, that is sure thing.

If you're going to use the scart port connected to a tv with a full scart cable, make absolutely sure it's fully plugged in and secure and do not plug it in when tv or computer are on.
An older medion gpu I had died due to the cable coming loose on the computer side.
There was some smoke, there were some burn marks.

Or just do not use a full scart cable.

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.
