Not today, but this weekend - I bought a PNY blower GeForce RTX 2060 for $60. My buddy's gonna get it for his secondary rig with an i7-9700 and pay me back for it + send me some older PC parts in exchange (PC100/133, DDR1, DDR2, i7-6700). While I was testing it, I found out something pretty cool:

This RTX 2060 used recycled 2080 silicon (TU104) instead of TU106! That means nothing in gaming, but apparently TU104-based 2060's perform up to 41% better in workstation tasks and have faster video encoding. This isn't super duper rare or anything, as the EVGA KO model was the most well-known for recycling 2080 silicon, but it's always cool to know that some random blower card from PNY was also subject to it. This card was manufactured sometime in 2020, and the VBIOS is dated February 2020.

Ah... they don't do it like Ati/AMD, sum the cores and split the work, they do it by assigning master to lowest end card and still allocating half the work each either alternate line or alternate frame (Thought I read somewhere it was completely unlike 3DFX SLI, but first method sounds same) . Asymmetric named "mixed SLI" so basically it cripples the better card to be as slow as the slowest card. Buuut, might be workable with a headless near clone of your desktop display card. Or if you get one cheap enough with a few more cores, just deal with losing their advantage.

However, some display or workload methods with Vulcan support share it out. Otherwise the hybrid mode combined with passthrough might work to run on low end low watt desktop card on desktop and fire up the headless for passthrough when needing "real" GPU.

MGPU might also work assuming the software is MGPU aware and both GPUs are DX12 capable.

Craft Computing on youtube has done a lot of work in that direction, I would highly recommend viewing some of his videos on it all.

Quadro P6000 24Gb is an interesting buy these days...

Yes, jumped at it because of the price, they still sell for quite a bit, most I see here in Australia are 600-700 dollars.

I still consider Pascal to be the best series nVidia has ever made I figure its worth owning the top tier version of it as its still a very capable 1080p GPU.

Ill check out the channel, the Quadro should by rights overclock the ram by quite a bit since its the same memory as the Titan XP and 1080Ti, pretty sure its just power limited since its a workstation card ...fully unlocked with a better cooler and itll be quite the GPU.

IIRC Pascal doesn't work under XP, Maxwell does however and its quite a monster for XP gaming. Picked up a 8Gb 750Ti a while back for my XP rig .. its one of them Chinese cards where they cram as much memory on it as the GPU can address ...its quite funny seeing a 750Ti with 8Gb and it does perform much better than the stock 2Gb model.

The extra memory does illuminate just how much nVidia was holding Kepler and Maxwell back by putting such pathetic amounts of VRAM on the cards.
