Preface: There is a WIP project to add Rage 128 Pro emulation to 86box. Currently it's in the testing stage and there have been issues with certain games. It's not immediately apparent if they're caused by drivers, the game itself, or the emulation.

One case we've encountered so far is with Thief 2. Can anyone confirm if the following happen on real 128 Pro hardware, and if so, which drivers?

Fog gradients, tested with drivers 6263 and 6292:

Flickering text: (I couldn't figure out how to embed the video, if it's even possible)

Rage128Pro (Rage4) has table fog issues at Win9x, the only way i have able to get table fog working is with dgVoodoo, same is with Rage XL (Rage3).

XP and ATi driver 7.11 fixes Thief II fog, but 7.11 drivers are for WinXP and Radeon cards, not for any Rage3 or Rage4.

Best ATi Rage3 drivers for 3DCIF / Direct3D / OpenGL / GLUT / DVD : ATi RagePro drivers and software
33+MiniGL / OpenGL Win 9x dll files for all ATi-Rage3 based cards : ATi RagePro OpenGL files

Are you saying the non-Pro 128 is fine?

Based on what I've seen here, it looks fine with driver 6292 and older, but I guess that's showing the non-Pro 128. To note, I'm specifically asking about this game, and not the general table fog situation or in other games.

Also the issue with the real card seems to be incomplete rendering, and not gradients.

Thief II uses d3d table fog for its fog, if it works for Rage128, it works also for Rage128Pro, just earliest Rage128 drivers did not have Rage128Pro support. 4.12.6292 has both (Rage128 and Rage128 Pro).

I can check out Thief II again at some point with Rage128Pro.

Graphics cards with partial (inaccurate) table tog support
ATI Rage XL[12]
ATI Rage 128/Pro[13]
