I have a Soyo SY-4SAW motherboard with 64MB of RAM (two 32MB FPM modules). It had been sitting idle for a long time, so yesterday I took it out to run some preliminary checks before installing Windows 98SE today.
It passed those initial checks without any issues. The testing consisted of running a few utilities: CheckIt and other and the standard Memtest86. All was ok.
Today I started installing Windows 98 and ran into trouble: when `config.sys` loads, HIMEM reports a memory error.
Damm —one of my memory modules must have died. That’s usually the case when HIMEM fails its self-test. But I’ve run Memtest86 several times since then, and it says everything is fine. ???

Can anyone point me in the right direction? What’s the problem? Is it a configuration issue?
Thanks in advanced
