Kind of another "not sure which bought thread to land this in" but nothing is getting any newer. Anything with external drive bays is seeming fairly retro now. (Reminder that a later rev 5170 AT would have been the age Ivybridge is now when Vogons kicked off. )

Nothing particularly special here, just boxes for bits. Have full ATX tower from ThermalTake, it's got the bottom PSU to handily save any dropped screws for you, two 120 holes in top, one in side, one in back, two in base, and one behind front panel. The ones on top have extra margin so might take 150 but don't have the mounting holes fully done, so minor mod if wanted. Back one takes 80,90, 120. Ample drive bays. 4 and 7 and one 3.5 can even be external, or two if you wanna lose the FP sockets. Oddly the barcode/PN on the bottom comes up as a LianLi that's all window and rainbow puke, the V100. But I can see the back 3 sides are quite similar, so maybe PN is for that assembly. TT also has a similarish one at microcenter with different front panel as V100, weird. Build quality is thin and cheap, which I don't mind because my back is often gippy and last thing I need is a 40lb case with 20lb more stuff in it. Age seems to be anything between 2007 and 2017 maybe.

Other one is simple ex Dull, seems to be standard mATX good amount of bays for it's size 2 and 1+3 but I think the bottom mount 3.5s get in the way of a longer than 8" GPU. Sleeper build? Yeah, nah, yeah, nah, nah, yeah... not good enough ventilation for too much grunt methinks. Oddly one of the boards I was thinking of, might end up duplicating spec of original optiplex model heh.

Anyway, saw these at a thrift last night... realised I keep prowling classified for cases and never see anything under $30 and got both of these for less when I went back today. Also grabbed a small bag of fans, one 80 and a few clean looking 60s for R&R of old SS7 sinks. That wasn't there last night so maybe they've had a bunch of PC stuff that's bleeding into stock over next few days, so I will have to try back there in passing a few times.

Thinking the TT might get a Haswell build at the moment, or disputing whether to go with my FX-8350 build in it.

Edit: I cheated and "lensed" it, seems to be a ThermalTake V3 Black Edition hailing from early 2010 initial release. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/thermaltake-v3-black/ and holeeeee sheeeet, someone on eBay wants $350 (CDN) for one.

EditII: Unexpected talent unlocked: Randomly discovered that by "oil canning" the top rear fan grille on the TT, I can do the theme from 2001 Space Odyssey.... the bit that goes nerrrrrr nerrrrrrrr BOM-BOM BOM-BOM BOM-BOM ... that would be a good bit for a youtube channel if I had one 🤣

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

The Elsa Victory Erazer has a German sticker on, so I'm going to go out on a limb and say Nepal.

Damn, I was a bit too far South, if I had said Mongolia, it might have been the exact average of all those origins on a Pacific centered map 🤣 🤣 🤣

Do you have a picture of the card? I saw a listing earlier this week that was incorrectly labeled as the card was an older Diamond card in the 3D Blaster (CT6240) PCI box. The item was also listed as a 3D Labs Permedia 2 which was obviously incorrect as well, and I sent the owner a message to correct the listing.

Random trinket, was out of town so hit the thrifts on the way, nothing special, one trinket a 38mm deep 80mm Nidec that should do about 71cfm and get airflow outa the back of the dell box up yonder. Potentialities are potentially potentiating.

The matching correct card was located too so I was sent both 😀

:p Thank you! I would love to have a cool display setup like some people here do. Many legends here to live up to.

Fresh arrival, semi-impulse fleabay purchase due to seeing them for ~$10USD (i.e. sometime when I got round to it I was gonna go looking)

SL5VR Celeron 1300, Tualatin core, FPGA2, 100Mhz bus so 13x multi, which is a nice spot to start from if you want some high Tualatin clocks without having to get super insane with FSB. IMO the 256 - 512 cache difference to PIII-S is less significant than coppermine 128-256. Also a nice easy 1.5V Vcore on these, got 2.

Tualerons are great, I basically treat them like high-clocked coppermines.

Yup, most solid plan for one is my AT case sleeper build. Has a Slot 1 440BX PC Partner board in it, the 286 case badge it arrived with, and hoping to squeeze it up to 1.5Ghz at least. Not sure what graphics to go with right now, has GF2, could do Radeon 8500 or Geforce3... maybe I'll check the 92x0 I've got in case it's faster than the 8500. Might be wiser, it runs coolest of those.

Hi all,

Found a cool ICL CS386s/25, free of charge and saved in the nick of time from the jaws of the recycler.

It has a really interesting bios layout, you can check it here, Re: ICL CL386SX w/integrated ATi Wonder XL – No post & BIOS Confusion. Props to rasz_pl for reverse engineering the bootloader that allows to flash the eeprom from floppy.

last week , received a Yamaha TG100. The condition was somewhat heavily used, but aside from dirt and scratches in the top cover it is a solid unit. Couldn't resist to the 40€ price tag even with the scars.

@ last but not the least a nice Primax Soundstorm M16B (only that its a early version, so no "soundstorm" anywhere) GUS clone, boxed and with floppies and manuals. It was a bit steep at 140€ for a clone, but the box is a beauty, couldn't resist.

Now, to find a 512KB chip for it....
PS: also the floppy disks images can be found here https://archive.org/details/primax--m16b-gus-disks
