Hi,
just recently I've noticed the fontinit button inside midiplayer configuration.
I've used this link to obtain some information
https://www.un4seen.com/doc/#bassmidi/BASS_MI … I_FontInit.html
On low resolution GBA Midi+SF2 music I've done some listening with ramping excluded and attack and decay lienar and curved to figure out if I can have some optimization.

What I could not find is an explanation for "alternative stereo panning" in that link, are there special case where is useful to use this settings?

Thank you.

Aldo

If I've understood in the right way, this will change nothing on mono SF2 and will change something only on SFZ.

To be honest I just listed all the available flags from BassMidi's header file. I have not tested all of them, and 'alternative stereo panning' is such an item 😀

Thank you for your answer. Recently... I don't remember exactly what version, when batch processing midi offline, I'm experiencing problems with windows GUI (I've windows 11 at 2k res), i can no more use the bar, clock stop working and usually I've to reset to work again. Maybe you could take a look.
Thank you.

I'm sorry, but I need exact reproducible steps. Your description is rather vague.
1. What version you used.
2. What kind of output you used.
3. If the output was VST what plugin(s) you used.
4. What settings you used.
5. etc.

I think you know what I mean.

I've this problem since 6.4. Now I?m using latest version, with 6.6 the same.
No audio output, I'm writing wav with batch. If I listen to everything is fine.
No VST, Just SF2 so BassMidi
I'm doing different batch with different fontinit and interpolation and resolution to make comparison but always the same: if I do a batch process (single or multiple file) with offline mode bass midi.
resolution of my pc, 2k, 2560*1440.

I suggest the following: Download the original 6.6 Bassmidi edition package and do not change anything else just the ones I show you in the test video:
https://falcosoft.hu/midiplayer_66_bse.zip
It is preconfigured by the included ini and Midi files so we do not have to find out what files, settings etc. you use.

Here is the test video:
https://youtu.be/6cCWXTcx9zU

Report back if anything behaves differently on your system.

You should use the exact same package I linked above regardless what you already have on your system.
The package above uses its own settings and not your existing ones.
That is the important part since this way we can determine if with the exact same settings your system still produces the problem or not.
Just do exactly what I did in the video and report back.

Offline mode was introduced in version 6.5 😀
So we can you that you always had this problem with this feature.

Offline mode has nothing to do with single channel recordings. If I understand your problem properly it's not related to single channel recordings but to offline mode. And offline mode did not exist in version 6.4.
If was introduced with 6.5 test version here:
Re: Falcosoft Soundfont Midi Player + Munt VSTi + BassMidi VSTi

So to make things clear: Your problem happens only in offline mode or also when you use single channel recordings in online mode?
I'm asking since you said the problems happened since version 6.4 but as I said version 6.4 only knew single channel recordings but not offline mode.

BTW, offline mode can also be used without recording. It does not make much sense to use this mode for playback only but it works. And for testing you can try that offline mode itself is enough to trigger your problem or recording is also needed.

Anyway, I do not know how to help you since as you could see in my test video I could not reproduce such problems. I also repeated the test on my Win 11 installation and it worked perfectly. So the problem is specific to your system.
Do you have another PC or OS to test offline mode?

Hi Falcosoft,
i didnt have the time to find a synthesizer which accepts the midi port 14:0 (Kernel midi through port) as input. The MT32 Munt GUI does not allow this and uses port 128. I used aplaymidi on port 14:0 with your midi file as player and FSMP as synth and it works great. I used aconnect 14:0 128:0 to patch midi outputs from 14:0 to 128:0 and used aplaymidi to send the midi data through 14:0 to 128:0 which then were played correct in munt.
So we have aplaymidi and dosbox delivering fine midi data to munt emu and FSMP through port 14:0. Just SCUMMVM screws up.
"Describe the sound you are hearing or not hearing": When i start Monkey 1 in scummvm im only getting the drums while i can see your FSMP keyboard playing notes - they are just not synthesized. Channel 2 is Piano and the other channels are OFF. After the first scene change from the start view with the whole island in the picture to guybrush standing next to the old man - we have instrument changes - and these work fine and from there music works fine. So it seemes something in the Beginning is going wrong. After the music silences and guybrush is in the town i entered the scummbar - music started to play fine.

Thanks for your time again.

I have no idea what an why ScummVM does that results in this state. By the 'other channels are OFF' you mean literally gray with channel numbers being 17?
The only thing you can try is disabling the 'React to GM/GS Reset' option on MUNT VSTi's user interface.
And one other thing: Try to disable FSMP -> Main menu -> SysEx options -> Enable SysEx from Midi In. Warning: !! This is only for Monkey Island 1 testing !! Then do not forget to re-enable it otherwise all other playbacks will be ruined.

Please clarify :
1) you use ASIO ?
2) you use WASAPI Exclusive ?
What will if you do disable usage WASAPI-E and all will play and record ? Maybe you somehow use WASAPI-E or ASIO , may be other , not FSMP application )

So it does not occur when you simply play back Midi files in offline mode.
Then please, try the following: make the recording to another available physical drive. You can even use an external flash drive for testing. You should also try a RAM drive. The point is we should find out that recording is generally problematic on your system or only affects some specific drives.

I tested the problem DOSShark has - playing Monkey Island in ScummVM on Linux and sending the midi using Midi Through port (14:0) to MidiPlayer with MuntVsti plugin.
It doesn't work correctly, so I recorded the output from ScummVM into a .mid file (command: arecordmidi -p 14:0 scummvm.mid).
If I open the file in MidiPlayer, it plays correctly. If I play the file using Midi Through port (command: aplaymidi -p 14:0 scummvm.mid) it doesn't play correctly.
The file plays correctly on mt32-pi (directly and using Midi Through port), so the problem seems to be either in MidiPlayer or in wine.
You can test it using the file in attachment.

Thanks, this is a big help!
I could test the captured Midi file on Windows with different players (WMP and Van Basco) through FSMP + Munt VSTi. Both worked perfectly. So it seems FSMP's Midi input handling is not the problem. So the most likely problem is within Wine. This would not be the first case:
Re: Falcosoft Soundfont Midi Player + Munt VSTi + BassMidi VSTi

Here is my test video:
https://youtu.be/k6MSuAWAHAI

BTW, ScummVM does not use the original Monkey Island 1 Midi but it configures its own version with the help of many custom MT-32 SysEx messages (as can be seen at the end of my test video). Most likely these custom SysEx messages cause problems in Wine's translating layer.

I recorded received midi events in MidiPlayer using Event Viewer and compared it to the original midi file.
Some sysex events were missing from the recording. When I added them, then it played correctly.
The missing sysex events had the same timestamp as another sysex event.

These events have the same timestamp and the second one is missing in the recording.

These events have the same timestamp and the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th events are missing in the recording (the 1st, 7th and 8th event are in the recording).
