I am not sure if these problems are related but I am pretty sure they are.

I have the Orginal Tie Fighter Collectors CD-ROM.
I am running WinXP Pro with a Soundblaster Live! Value.
I have the VDM up to date as far as I can tell.

VDM Sound allows me to run the sounds perfectly however I AM NOT able to run GENERAL MIDI.

I can select General MIDI in the Installer/Sound Set-Up however when I go to test the sound the Installer Locks Up.
However I found I could run the music by using ADLIB.

The problem is that when I am in a mission and a lot of things are going on the sound starts to act really strange. It speeds up and over laps. I can usually correct the problem by hitting ESC and waiting a few seconds however sometimes it just doesn't work. Can anyone help me out?

I have a feeling it would work fine if GENERAL MIDI would work for me but the installer just locks up.

Search the forums for "TIE" and "MIDI". Also, make sure you have the TIE Fighter sound update from LucasArts(ftp://ftp.lucasarts.com/patches/pc/tiesnd.exe) which may or may not be included on the CD-ROM version.

Please post if still having trouble. (And make sure to configure the game's VDMSound Launchpad VLP file to have EMS)

I installed the patch from the lucasarts site and the game appeared to work perfectly for a whole battle but when I started a new battle it was all messed up again.

I can't seem to find where I can set up the VDMSound Lauchpad VLP file to have EMS. Can you give me hand?

Thanks
