Trying to run 'Ascendancy' game

Hi All,

I'm trying to run an old game that looks brilliant called 'Ascendancy' under Windows 2000.

I have tried using VDMS without success. Apparently the game hangs because of VESA config. Has anyone come across that kind of problem before?

The way I did it was:

download MOUSE2KV.EXE
place it in the C:\ASCEND directory
make a go.bat file with the line
MOUSE2KV.EXE 640 480 8 8 ASCEND.EXE
in it

launch go.bat and switch to full screen ASAP
then ALT+ESC to close the tip of the day
then full screen again

TADJAAAH! Works. With sound and everything.

Spec: Win2k, GeForce II, Athlon 1600, 512 Mb RAM.

Ran fine on mine without any tweaking at all. Mouse wasn't "fast", but it wasn't crippled either...

Of course, I'm working with the original CD...hrmmm...
