when i try to play death rally...
everything goes fine until the game starts,
(when I see mine and other cars) everything goes very slow 😖
and i can't do nothing to it to make it disapear 🙁...
ive tried to start in "dos mode" by typing command...

I'm not really sure what you mean by "typing in command". To be in "DOS Mode" of Windows 98 means Windows isn't running, just DOS.

If you start it from a DOS prompt within Windows, you're still running it in Windows.

andd in 98/ win me
mode , wont do...i'm using a p4 1,8hrz geforce 4 TI 128mb...

Did you try following the guide for "Death Rally" in the Problem Children thread? Be sure to add the /W parameter when running it within Windows.

From "cairn':

I carefully read your posts concerning this matter. I've tried NOLFB, VMDSound. But it didn't fix my problem which is : I run the program using the /W parameter, it launches, gives some error messages (about the EMM amongst others), displays "Loading music & effects, please wait...". And it stays a very long time like that. I would say it's frozen. I've searched quite a lot on the net and haven't found any info. Hope you can help me identify the problem.

Really need more info about your system, since all I know is that you're running XP. What kind of video card are you using? Also, we really need more detail on the error messages.

I would hazard a guess that you are getting "Memory Management" errors, but it's hard to say anything beyond that at the moment.

hello,

where do i have to put the /W exactly??
i did it by the proportions in the rally.exe is this good?
But when i do this...nothing happeneds
my problem is this:
Death rally roles fine! untill i'm going to race than is goes very slow...when I abort and i come in the menu etc everything goes at normal speed again 😐
only the race itself goes slow! 😖
This is my system:
Pentium4 1.8ghz, 256mb ram memory, 128mb Geforce 4200 TI
do u need to know more?

thankz anyway

Immediately after the RALLY.EXE.

The "proportions"? I don't what you mean here.

Yes. That is the behavior you will see when running "Death Rally" in windows.

There are ways to start NOLFB and add parameters to the game using it's PIF or VLP files, but the easiest and most straight-forward way is to use a batch file.

Copy NOLFB.COM to the game directory and create a file called GO.TXT in the game's directory. Edit GO.TXT to look like this:

NOLFB.COM
RALLY.EXE /W

Save the file, then change the last three letters (the filename extension) to BAT. You then run the BAT file with VDMSound.

Yes, Networking works differently on XP, and it's a pain:
showthread.php?threadid=729&highlight=IPX

showthread.php?threadid=1822&highlight=IPX

You might try LSD's suggestion (in the LAN in XP thread) of forcing IPX to a setting other than "Auto". You would also probably need to access the "Low-level network support" in the "Advanced" option in the Properties of your game's VLP files.

I have precious little network experience, so I'm afraid you'll need someone else for LAN stuff.
