Been running 0.72 for years on an XP machine, worked great. Just built a new system running Win 7, 64 bit. Did some research and found I'd need 0.73 for Win 7. Downloaded it, setup my config, mounted C:, CD Drive etc, launched one of several old DOS games I had and everything looked fine except.... and this goes for everyone of the 14 programs I have in my CDrive directory; about 1-2 minutes after launch of any of these programs, the video corrupts(?) and looks to drop into a 16 color?, EGA? mode?

I've used every video emulation available in the config file to no avail. Hoping someone has some ideas.

System:
Intel I7 processor @ 2.66
Gigabyte MB GA-X58A-UD3R
Ram 6 gig Corsair
Video Sapphire 4870 1 gig VRAM

BTW I have the newest drivers loaded for everything. Sytem was just built about a month ago.

Many thanks to any respondants.

So how would I do that? Is there even a way? And is a 0.74 under development?

I've tried that... started with surface, currently ddraw, tried opengl etc. nothing worked. Apparently explorer corrupts the pallete.

Anyone running in Win 7 64bit with success?

Final option is to set the SDL_VIDEODRIVER=WINDIB variable.

Either that in your System Variables or create a batch file as follows:

set sdl_videodriver=windib
dosbox.exe

Seriously, Dosbox is always under heavy development and yes, a 0.74 is under development and doesn'T seem like toooooo far off 😀

Well, tried setting the SDL_VIDEODRIVER=WINDIB variable.. no luck.

Guess my only option is to wait for 0.74 😒

At least I can still play around on my old XP machine 😉

Thanks for all the responses guys.

Gary

Change output= in the .conf file, not during the run of the emulator. Opengl shouldn't ever use a screen palette or 8-bit color (which Windows 7 will definitely screw).

No, I don't have Windows 7, I don't even know why i'm posting! The good samaritan in me wants me to!
