The board is an OEM version of ASUS CUV4x-cme (called Medion 2001, from an ALDI PC). Before I go to figure out the postage, here are the reasons why I dump it:
Cons:
No ISA
Onboard Soundblaster has very low output level, you end up using a card instead.
No control over fsb - auto only. There may be a OC-BIOS, but I just couldn't be bothered to try.Pro:
3xPCI
AGP 4x / 2xI used it for a while with my V3 3000 at 200 MHz. It has enough juice on 3.3V AGP for it. Paired it with a SB Live! to play European Air Wars. Then it got a job as net radio for 30 days, till winXP shut down. Recently I decided that I can play European Air Wars on a P800 with a V5 all the same and that I use something smaller dedicated for net radio instead.
Postage? I have to check if this can pass as a letter.
I like the board, but it just doesn't make sense from my retro point of view:
No ISA - no DOS. And for Win98 only, there is much faster stuff available that offers some speed control too. I gladly spare it from destruction, if you like to get it.
I think it's a shame to throw away a perfectly working motherboard.
I know it does have limitations but I reckon it should be possible to flash a retail bios on it, enabling many extra bios features.
Those VIA boards do have a couple advantages, like being able to take high density memory modules.
If you live in the states, shipping will be costly.
If anyone living closer to you happens to still want that board I\d be perfectly happy to let you ship it to that person instead 😉
I'm not short on coppermine boards, but I think it's a shame to throw it away.
If noone else wants it, then I'll take it
