When I try to play, for example, Settlers 2, VDMSound always whines about my com ports. I have only com1 enabled, because it's the only port I need, for my calculator. When I have other ports disabled, I get a message like this: http://www.kotiposti.net/ihmemies/tavara/errmsg.png

It's very annoying to always click ignore, I have to do it with TTD three times! Is there any (commandline) option or something to disable that nag screen? I'm not interested if game x doesn't get all the 4 com ports it "needs".

Another issue is my joystick, Logitech Wingman Digital 3D (no force) with Archimedean Dynasty. I have Windows XP, and I've tried both usb and gameport. VDMSound supports joystick emulation, but the config window in Archimedean Dynasty just says "no joystick detected", when it should work (at least it works in Windows).

Whoa. This has 0.0000% to do with VDMSound, actually. It's Windows (the "VDMSound" you see there is just plagiarized by Windows from the DOS box' title bar).

So because it's Windows there's nothing to be done with it?

You could, like, enable your COM ports...

Yes, it’s my fault.

I get the same error message when trying to run "Screamer 2", and I HAVE the com-ports enabled.

You could, like, IGNORE it... 😜
(No, I'm not much help. But seriously, it's just an annoyance that occurs once when the game starts -- a pretty mild thing, ne?)

Yes, it’s my fault.

But I think it (pressing the ignore a couple of times) causes unirfrsh not to work. At least when I start Settlers II, unirfrsh doesn't have any effect on the refresh rate, it's the same 59hz - can't play 🙁

It won't have any effect PERIOD, AFAIK.

Yes, it’s my fault.
