Hi , in 2010 i started a post about a wrapper project to bring older games to higher resolution :
New wrapperproject

Dosfreak was not very friendly to me , i dont understand until today why.
However, the programmer who did the job for me worked very hard for more than 1 year . The first game he got to higher resolution by this
wrapper is the old ssi game "Panzergeneral scorched earth "
Please put the wrapperfile into the pg3 scorched earth mainfolder
and start the game, thats al. This is a first version with little bugs
which can be solved. I think the programmer did a great job and the
wrapper is able to bring more old games to modern look in the future.
Here is the file.

removed, scroll for the last version.

Have fun

a couple of questions
why d3d to openglide, that means your converting d3d to glide sending it to openglide which is converting glide to opengl
why not d3d to opengl its much better than d3d to glide to opengl

2: ddrawl.dll suggests its a directdraw to glide wrapper?

There is no mention of d3d or glide in the dll posted. The dll is however linked to opengl32.dll and there is a string DX2OGL.dll Wrapper inside so I would assume this is some kind of ddraw to opengl wrapper.

Is there any chance this programmer might also reveal his source code and/or methodology?

Sorry for some misstakes , it is a d3d to opengl wrapper,
no connection to glide. direct draw to opengl is planned for the future.
I dont think he will give the sourcecode away, i dont ask him
for that. He made this wrapper for me but i dont want to keep it for myself.
Everyone who likes pg3 scorch earth can use it.

Does it work for other games as well? I tried it on Sega Rally Championship (direct draw game), but I get wrong colors. Tried also on Mobil 1 Rally (direct3d) and it says no 3d card was found.

So, is this anything like ddhack?
ddhack

For that matter, does ddhack, cnc-ddraw, and/or ddfix work at all for PG3?

Since a complete DirectDraw rewrite is apparently unfeasible, I wonder if it might be possible to make some kind of framework that an end-user could easily tweak, maybe with some kind of fancy online database into which people's game-specific settings could be entered. It seems to me like that's the only solution short of complete hardware emulation. But I'm just speculating wildly.

Perhaps you should edit your thread title to avoid further confusion.

Well, I hope he changes his mind if the time comes when he's no longer willing or able to work on it anymore.

direct draw to opengl is planned for the future.

...Like Mr. Davros said, if it's a replacement for ddraw.dll, doesn't it already do DirectDraw-to-OpenGL?

Hi, the wrapper works at the moment for no other game, every new game needs to be fixed itselves.
When the job is complete i will ask him for the sourcecode.
For directdraw game he told me it is prepared but need some fixings, but such games the wrapper cant bring to higher resolution.
Other hacks does not work for pg 3 scorched earth.

I paid for my Win7 but that doesn't mean I'm allowed to post it on the net.

In the case you are indeed allowed to share the files, thanks for posting here.

What Micha is trying to say is he paid for the wrapper to be written, so he can do what he likes with it,
why are people being so hard on him

The person who wrote it certainly put information about the status of this licensing somewhere. Randomly uploading binaries with unknown source is quite strange.
