Update: Okay, so Windows 3.11 does NOT run on FreeDOS whatsoever, ugh. 😢

Are you sure? Perhaps you started reading http://www.freedos.org/freedos/news/technote/200.html but did not scroll down to the Update at the very bottom? (The FreeDOS documentation leaves much to be desired. See also http://www.freedos.org/freedos/news/newsitem/166.html .)

are there any Long File Name extensions for MS-DOS 6.22?

I think so, but I'm not sure why you would want to use them if you don't actually have Win9x installed. There's a lot that can go wrong.

Yeah i'm sure, it gripes about a C:\DOS\BIN\LFNXAT.386 file not being found or something like that amongst other weird errors where it can't find display.drv or anything like that, im re-installing FreeDOS one lasttime and if it don't work again then i'm just gonna say f**k it, and "go back" to either my original MS-DOS 6.22 + Windows 3.11 WFWG configuration or just install crappy Windows 98 SE but install it using the 98 Lite modification, 98 micro .

Think the enhanced-mode windows didn't run on freedos so it's quite useless there, but don't know if that has changed recently. Doubt it though.

Yeah that seems to be the case. Unfortunately... 😢

For now i've done a MS-DOS 7.1 [I "ripped" it from Win 98 SE myself] + Windows 3.11 WFWG install... seriously I have no idea why I need Win 3.11 though other than to use internet on that PC... got sick of wasting my CD-R's for very small files.

Question, I have a 3Com Etherlink III 5c509b PnP NIC, does FreeDOS do command line DHCP broadband? Guess i'd need DOS drivers for that NIC too though, but if FreeDOS does, I could be completely Windows and MS "free" on that PC because there are DOS browsers such as Dilla that work in FreeDOS, hmmm...

Confirmed, I can do TCP/IP via DOS only, so FreeDOS should be my *final* solution for my system. Modern DOS + DOS gaming = 😁
