Is there any advantage to using one card over the other? Are they functionally identical?

I kind of like the look of the SB 1.5 because it matches my 8086 system a little better, but if the SB 2.0 has some extra functionality I would probably rather go with that.

SB 2.0 (DSP 2.01) can output 8-bit digital sound samples in mono at 44,100kHz, SB 1.5 (assuming a DSP 2.00) can only do that at 22,050kHz. Audio output in general sounds a bit cleaner on the 2.0. On the other hand, the 2.0 has fewer I/O options than the 1.5.

2.0 requires a -5 compatible PSU. Obviously not an issue with your machine, but might be one if you are using a modern ATX PSU with adapters.

I'll have to look into this -5V issue on my 486 system (which is using an ATX power supply). I noticed issues with certain soundcards not working.

The SB 2.0, LAPC-I and PAS 16 all seem to have issues with non -5V compatible PSUs.
