Change output in dosbox settings (it's a text file you have to edit but thereis an item for that in the start menu)

I'm having another problem with DOSbox. I have played with the conf file and have some improvement but in my very old game (published in 1993), I have a strange problem with the mouse. The mouse works on the assorted startup screens for choosing options, games, etc. But once I load the actual game graphic, the mouse does not activate any of the selection buttons. The game is designed to be played with a mouse. I have tried both capturing and releasing the mouse, neither has an impact. Any suggestions? I originally played this game on Windows 3.1

It's a QQP game, so you may be running into the EGA page flipping issue with the DOSBox internal mouse driver. If it seems like the mouse pointer alternately appears and disappears as the screen changes, see this thread for some possible solutions: Mouse pointer issues in QQP games
