Howdy all,

I'm setting up dosbox to run an older dos database app in Windows 7 64nit. The app which looks for c:\snap is loaded on c:\dosboxfol\snap. I've mounted c: in dosbox to c:\dosboxfol\ so that snap resides on c:\snap in dosbox. I've enabled full access to all users in both folders via security settings in win 7.

The dos app when loaded from dosbox throws up a notification saying that is trying to open the first file related to the database that is default. It either can't find it or its locked, from what I can see it's not locked.

I've tried running dosbox as admin is well with no luck. Any help would be great.

Thanks,

~DC

The application might need real file sharing support, which isn't present in dosbox as games don't seem to require it.
In general, dosbox should only be used for games. It's features and accuracy are designed with that in mind.

I realize it's more for gaming but I thought before I installed XP mode I would give it a try. The app doesn't require any sharing, I think there is just a path issue so I'll keep plugging at it.

Thanks

I often suggest using the debug-enabled version of DOSBox for things like this, as it will often show which paths a program is trying (and failing) to access.

I just discovered vDos
Tried it out with my Clipper app running in tandem with my Alpha5 apps and RECORD LOCKING IS OBSERVED. WOW!
DOSBOX is only for games but vDos for databases. Check that out.
