I'm trying to connect my 9800 Pro to a 1920x1200 LCD using DVI, but it outputs garbage at that resolution (or any other 16:10 option). Anyone know of a fix for this? I've tried different drivers and have tried to "reduce DVI frequency for high-res displays," all to no avail. The analog output will do 1920x1200, but the picture is muddy.

It's a little frustrating because my Radeon 7000 PCI can drive this monitor at its native resolution over DVI.

Those cards didn't have the best compatibility with DVI. But I haven't had problems with my 1920x1200 LCD. I'm not sure what to suggest...

A google search for "radeon 9800 dvi problem" gives lots of results.

I wasn't able to find a fix (at least for my card) in any of the Google results I looked at.
1280x720, 1280x768, and 1920x1080 are the only widescreen resolutions that work.

It seems that my x800XT All-in-wonder is also very picky about which resolutions it will support over DVI.

Sounds like the monitor could be part of the problem. Or perhaps the DVI cable.

I don't have trouble with 9800 or X800 with my Dell 2405fpw.

Do you have options for
Reducing DVI frequency on high-resolution displays — Resolves display corruption or the complete absence of images when for displays running at a high resolution. Enable this option only if your display is experiencing these types of problems.
Alternate DVI operational mode — When enabled, may eliminate display corruption.

do you have the proper inf installed for your monitor ?

Not the monitor or cable. None of my other DVI monitors will work with these cards at any 16:10 resolution. Not sure why most 16:9 resolutions work fine. 😕

I've already tried the DVI frequency reduction; it doesn't change anything.

I guess I'll just have to live with the letterboxing at 1080. Or go analog.
