Hi!

Is it possible, to make the border color of MSDOS visible?

GW-Basic / QBasic have had three color values:
COLOR 7, 1, 2

The first is the foreground, the second the background and the third the border.

Games like "Crystal Caves" also makes use of the border color. As default the border color is red. If you have collected all crystals, then it changed to green.

The border is around the pixeld area. So running today on current computers MS-DOS, the border can't be seen, because the TFT-monitores don't show it. Only old tube monitors showing the border with its color.

So, is there an option in DOSBox, to enable the border? So that there will be a frame around all, with the border color?

Or is it planned, that it will be implemented in the future?

Hey,

You should be warned that this is unofficial, but there is a modification of DOSBox with experimental overscan border support.

It seems like a search in the forums with the keyword "border" brings the desired topic (that has that modification).
This is the relevant search result by the way: VIDEO - Overscan border (SDL1)

Note that you should look towards the end of this topic for an up-to-date modification. Furthermore, dosbox-SVN.conf should be edited instead of dosbox-0.74.conf, in case you're interested in that. (Same folder as before.)
