I got this board along with a lot of other loot yesterday but there is two problems, one I am not certain what brand/model it is and second it is missing the bios eprom. I think it might be a Shuttle Hot 419 but not sure but would like to get it working as it can do 50mhz and take 512kb cache (has 15ns srams installed).

If that can do 50mhz and has a 1x multiplier setting, it would be a perfect platform for a DX-50. It's a later model than the boards that were originally used with the DX-50, so it should be stable at 50mhz. I would like to see how a DX-50 system stacks up in benchmarks against a DX2-66. My guess is they aren't that far apart due to the faster bus. I know the IDT Winchip 225 is faster overall then the 240 because it uses a 75mhz bus speed vs 60 for the 240. I would imagine similar results for the DX-50.

Looks like you're right nforce4max, it is a Shuttle HOT-419. Here is a link to AmoRetro.de with a pic of the board for comparison. Here is a link to an older topic here at VOGONS where retro games 100 tries out a revision 1.1 of the board. Finding a bios eprom for it will be a challenge, for sure (I simply have no idea).

Ooohh, the pain......

If you want to know how DX-50 compares to DX2/66 just read old copies of PCMagazine and PCWorld. They're roughly equal.

I don't know if I'd waste time with 50MHz on a board like that though. Very few boards could do 50MHz properly. By properly, I mean not having to drop in all kinds of wait states to make the system stable. The SiS EISA baord I haven't isn't effective at 50MHz because a properly timed 33MHz system gives similar memory scores.

It has a DX-50 installed woot but when I study the pics for the Hot-419 I notice very small differences that confuse me, I got a damaged board that has a eprom and the same chipset but that opti is a revision A so that trick might not work at all.

Got the board going! Pulled the bios from the ruined board and gave it a go then it came up on the first try. Now it has a late award bios 🤣 so no ami craziness. Still got a lot of tweaking before it really runs right but am on the right track.
