Not much comes to mind, except for CD connection interfaces and 3980 being PnP. Where's that other big chip?

CT2760 uses an EPROM to store IRQ/DMA settings. I don't know if these go bad with age, but I had a CT2760 which stopped working the first time I tried to change the stored settings.
