Hello,

I've been neglecting my retro machines lately due to being too busy but I recently threw an ad requesting free 486 parts and last night I picked up a pretty large haul. Good to know you can still find 386/486 gear in 2014! I have had a look through and static bagged and sorted much of it, one trip to the rubbish tip to drop off all the tower cases that either didn't have MHz LED's or were not full towers.

I am quite interested in the cases and what looks to be a couple of 386 boards with AMD 40Mhz CPU's since the 386 era was before my time. Does anything stand out as interesting to you guys or do you have knowledge on any of these parts? I was pretty excited when I saw the Cyrix 5x86 CPU and was hoping it was a 120/133 but it was not meant to be. Most of the boards have barrel batteries and one or two have pretty bad leaks so I guess I'll find a tutorial and learn to swap them over finally.

The Buslogic SCSI card and the no-name graphics card looks interesting enough..all in all an excellent free vintage haul...... Is the Jaguar V board with battery damage salvageable?

11] Full Towers - What are these? Takes an extra large PSU and not a generic.

Nice collection of stuff. Looks like pretty generic equipment but a lot of fun to be had nonetheless. 😀

Regarding the "unknown VGA card" - are there two VGA connectors, or is the second one another type?

All AT full towers I know of had a big power supply with that form factor.

That one 486 board is probably beyond repair.

That Netgear is a nice piece, if you can live with the limited WAN bandwidth.

Yeah, that Opti board looks like it's beyond the point of no return when it comes to battery damage. Otherwise, looks like a pretty nice haul! That Socket 7 board looks like it came from an OEM machine.

That one vintage computer enthusiast brony.

Two VGA connectors and a bunch of DIP switches.

Ill scavenge what I can from the board like cache/CPU and ditch it.

I think the Netgear would be great for hooking up a bunch of retro systems, looks like I can mount it in my server rack too.

I hope you will try to at least test boot it first.

the ISA 16 bit graphics card is from an V-tech LASER 286 system.. I have one of those too.. Its just a low to middle end graphics card.

~ At least it can do black and white~

Are you sure of that? early VGA cards sometime have connectors for TTL monitors (EGA/CGA) and the dip switches in between the connectors are to setup which monitor is the card using (or more precisely, which emulation the card is performing). VGA d-sub connector as we know it has 15 pins, in three layers, TTL connectors has generally 9 pins in 2 layers (just like a com port).

You can go to the page below and zoon in to the connectors of the card pictured
