I acquired a SBC (single board computer) with backplane, case and all. It is a 486 with ISA only and onboard graphics. Is this something worth messing with? I could install an ISA video card or is it better to sell this one off?

If the onboard graphics isn't slow it could probably be a fine DOS gaming machine. Does it have an onboard IDE controller as well? If so, then disk performance might also be OK.

I believe everything was onboard. I will try to get some pics.

ALi chipset, integrated ATA+Floppy controller, 2 72-pin SIMM slots... If that CL chip is on a VLB or PCI bus internally (I doubt that chipset is ISA only), this can be a mighty fine 486 machine. Guess the only way to be sure, though, is testing.

EDIT: check how much cache this boad has, if any.

These are used mostly for industrial equipment, which mostly having very high prices. These equipment are not something you want or able to upgrade every couple of years on a whim. When a perfectly working 100.000+ USD equipment stops working (which means you can not produce the goods for your customers anymore), the owners are generally more than happy to shell out a few hundred dollars to make it work (and produce goods) again. So, there is the demand, and there is the Ferengi. 🤣
