All SBLive are PCI.
IIRC when i installed the dos drivers I had to use setver because the setup didnt like dos 7
Guardian of the Sacred Five Terabyte's of Gaming Goodness
hmm, i treid installing it from this site but i dont really get the synthesizer section up thou.
IIRC, the big gotcha with SBLive drivers is whether you go with the older VxD based drivers for Windows or the WDM drivers. On mine, I believe I had to use the older drivers to get full functionality
wich version exactly?
More often than not you get both options with the later packages, but in Windows ME it usually defaults to WDM drivers. I prefer the VxD ones.
My Live! Works great with the LiveWare 3 driver CD
would they work best?
With SB Live its all down to testing. There were too many models and OEM variants for me to tell. With my board those drivers work amazingly well.
Version 3.0 works fantastic with my SB live!
now midi and evreything is there.
I installed from the CD in Win98SE, but the SBLive driver CD installed the WDM driver.
How do you force the VxD driver to install?

You could try installing manually through the device manager.

Thanks, but I found out how to on msfn.org http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/115903-compil … ndows-9x/page-2
You have to extract the CD to hard drive, find audio.ini and change use wdm from 1 to 0 on the Win98 and WinME entries.

Does the sound balster live! do sound blaster pro music?
You mean OPL? The VxD drivers have OPL emulation, but it sucks. If you need a PCI card for OPL emulation you'll have to go with Yamaha's YMF-724 chip.
If you mean digital sound, the VxD drivers offer SB16 compatibility. The WDM drivers offer the Windows' built in SBPro compatibility.
If you mean MPU-401 UART, yeah it does.
Here is a screenshot from the device manager. I will try tomorrow to see how it sounds.

Odd, now the sound effects not playing on the sound balster live.
You mean in DOS games or Windows in general?
